901 passthru not working with car usb adapter

1 usb adapter (output 5v, 700mah) works fine.....but i bought a 5v 1000mah on ebay and it does not work with passthru....light comes on usb, but no power to my passthru....i have seen on some suppliers sites, when they describe usb adapter for chargers, that they will not work with passthru....what works and what doesn't? anyone? thank you!

This may or may not apply to you, but I'll relay a problem I had with a USB car adapter and my GPS unit...

The voltage is supplied through pins 1 & 4 (the two outside pins) and on the first cable I tried my GPS unit wouldn't charge. I tried shimming the connector where the cable plugged into the USB adapter with a few layers of paper and got it to work (sort of) but it wasn't dependable. So I swapped out the cable and it started charging properly.

If you can, see if you are getting voltage through the two outside pins going to the PT. You might try the shim and see if that helps.
