I'll be the first to admit that I'm rough on stuff, which is why the SSGGTS is an ideal mod for me. It may be horrifying to some, but I'm not particularly careful about how I handle it, and because of that it's got some scratches and a ding already.

I'm just wondering, how many people treat their GGs like tools, and how many handle them with kid gloves, sometimes literally?

I used to be in the bicycle world and we had the same conflict. The sweetest components were so beautiful that we tended to baby them. It used to be hard to service a bike that a racer used, as all the best equipment would get thoroughly thrashed. Seeing a choice component worn, scraped and bent but still doing it's job always got my respect.

A beautiful piece of equipment wears it's scars as badges of honor. They show that it has been doing it's job day in and day out. Sounds like yours is properly broken in and personalized for the years ahead!

I treat mine like a beautiful tool, while it looks good, I still treat her like I treat my car. She only needs a "wash" (polish) when other start telling me she is an ugly old piece of crap. I like my GGTS to look good, but it tarnishes WAAAY to fast for me to keep polishing it. Funnily enough my nickel plated sleeves have NO tarnish, and I touch them frequently enough they should show SOME signs. My GGTS is aluminum, so it is not as hardy as an SS one, but it still has taken more falls and scratches than anything else I have owned, but that is just because I am unused to it not being in my hand!!!

TL;DR I love my GGTS, but it is made to be vaped.

Mine are treated like all of my expensive handplanes... I use the crap out of it, it gets worked hard, but treated with respect. It's certainly not polished all the time (it gets buffed occasionally when I feel the need) Imeo designed it to work, and take daily abuse, and it still stays beautiful.

Most of my GG's are more for collection then use but that is because I don't want to carry around multiple GGs. That being said my SSGGTS gets used every day and goes everywhere with me. I havn't dropped it on anything but carpet yet but it does have a couple scratches here and there. My iAtty is my main tank and it shows it also has some minor scratches but functions perfectly. My first GGTB has been used as a loaner for friends interisted in vaping and as such it is a little beat up but still works great and IMHO it gives it personality.

Reading this thread is painful.....lol

I treat mine like they were made of GLASS and can't bear the thought of them getting scratched or dented. I'm kind of obsessed.....just the way it is with me and my GGTS's.

What's funniest is I went from hardcore skeptic to bat$h!t crazy about them in about a week.

Like most of the posters already, I use mine every day. The fact that I could use it every day and it still looks good and works great is why I bought a SSGGTS. It don't throw it arround, but I don't have a heart attack if it falls over. I clean it, re apply vaseline, ect., but I don't think I have ever seriously polished it. It has a some small scratches and signs of use, but that is the beauty of the SSGGTS. Even if you are not super nice to it, it will still hit like a freight train and work consistently.

I treat mine with "rubber gloves" for first week... After that it becomes part of me and I don't spare my self :)

I do the same, #1428 stayed pristine for 2 weeks until I vegged and brought it with to errands, after that it has been just like the others, slightly scuffed (OK, some have more than others -- damned keys!!!), but a great vaping machine I don't havr to worry about breaking when I drop it ffrom the truck, or drafting table, or at a party, or.........

Yeah but you know how to polish well!!!:thumb: I was semi-surprised you love them as much as you do, but I felt the same way when I had other mods, too -- no way these werwe worth the bucks I thought -- I was wrong!!!!:2cool:

Para, I have a philosophy about tools:
#1 priority... the materials used to make them (significantly more important when dealing with a cutting edge tool)
#2 craftsmanship/beauty A tool should be beautiful, it should make you want to use it,it begs to be picked up, the more you enjoy using it the more effective you become with it.
#3 price, a well crafted tool that meets those top two criteria is going to be more expensive than a tool that doesn't meet those criteria. But if used (properly) will outlast and outperform any tool that doesn't measure up.

So I use my tools, yes they might be worn and scratched, but It's increased my pleasure in life. There is also something about holding an old worn tool, that makes you think about the craftsman who gave it that wear ;). I've got dents, dings, and scratches, and every single one of them got me where I am today, and wouldn't trade any of them :)

I have used my GGTS only one time (just to check how it works) about 15 seconds. It is at my place, hidden in a secret place, I live alone (and I eat tuna fish on daily basis to save money for the iAtty2), so it is hidden just in case some thief enters.

I take it out the secret place when I want to show it to some friend, I don't allow anybody to touch it. Maybe I am becoming kind of GGollum...
...once I was a nice Ariel BaGGins. Now I only take care of my precious.

I have one I use everyday and 4 that i keep on display. To keep them all looking like new, The best polish I've found is called Flitz. Its non abrasive and buffs really well. Once polished, i apply Flitz wax which is a carnuba/beeswax combination. This gets rid of the slickness and eliminates fingerprints. I heard of Flitz from a guy that conserves antique guns for the Smithsonian. It works beautiful on brass as well which is what he uses it for

blah...........it's a mod, not a BMW...........
I treat it like any other mod. However the SSGGTS is difficult to throw in the bottom of my purse, because of the button being on the side. The GGSlim has seen many days inside the front pocket of my jeans. I'm awaiting my Stealth currently. I have no idea if i'll even use it.

I think BMW's should be thrashed like a rented mule well and often. It's good for them. Keeps them fit. Angelika tops at 139 with a little hill action. She was my first midlife crisis car. I buy tires yearly

I would love this one but the damn college tuition thing gets in the way of my next midlife crisis. It's my favorite Beemer. 5L coupe. If I ruled the world, I'd drop an M5 V10 engine in it with a low pressure blower and eat Vettes and such. Maybe feast on Italian
