trying to upload a pic i get this:

Failed to write file. Check disc quotas and permissions for the path


pic size is 19.8 374x212

tried jpg and gif files

You'll need to upload it to a remote picture hosting site such as ImageShack® - Online Media Hosting or Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket for now.

...but i want it in my backround of my profile on here. its says:

Background images must come from your albums. Enter the URL to a picture in one of your public or profile albums.

...so i guess i cant do that?

I've upped the max file size for Album pictures to 50kb. Can someone try loading a pic within those limits and let me know if it helps?

Angus, just tried again, "Failed to write file. Check disc quotas and permissions for the path: ./albumpics/thumbs/5/309b482141a8d6abed865ff9ba855e07_5421.jpg"

And besides I am a supporting poster and was supposed to have extra space so don't think that is the problem.

Angus, I just tried to upload a 200 x 200 pixel jpg. avatar, but still got the same message.

There is another thread in this section of the forum, entitled "pictures", that is about the exact same problem.

Maybe the two should be merged?

This sounds like a problem on your end.
