Some systems use reverse polarity so the fact that the charger will screw on is not proof that it will work with the battery. Please check to be absolutely certain that they are compatible.
You need to make sure that both chargers, (the one you have and the one that's made for the new ecig) have the same voltage and the output in ma should not exceed the mah of the battery. And like XPE said, the polarity must be the same. You can check the polarity with a multimeter on your battery, and the other info should be written on the back of your present charger. The specifications for the charger for the new cig should be available on the website or you can ask the company.
