No ..its cutbacks too ,the post office is broke .They are still considering canceling sat mail deliveries and deciding which post offices to close .It is necessary as people are not mailing as much with online payment /phone payments and email.
gotta cut somewhere .Several here in my county are up for closure .Meantime they get a day off to spend with their families which i am sure is appreciated .

I thought today was a holiday for most people? I know everyone here (that get holidays) is out today. The traffic wasn't even that bad.

And lol KK, I think every holiday that you could possibly have a hangover the next day should be a mandatory holiday! Like the day after Halloween, day after St. Patricks Day, etc. I know in Louisiana my company gives a day or two off for Mardi Gras.

It's a federal holiday yes .But private employers usually choose x amount of paid holidays per year along with pto ( vacation, sick ) .As a result they often make them land on a day like today .Of course retail ,etc ,would not have the day off and are not subject to any federal laws. Yes i have had to do some hr along with my accounting duties .
My last employer supplied alot of computer systems to fed agencies so i would have been off .
Hubby has been here for 5 days and its getting to be a bit much lol .
my hubbys current hr lady is a tard so she scheduled some days on july 4th holiday ..ugh ...i will be taking my vacay at that time if i get one .Too much togetherness ....:vapor:

Yeah but I read it is being paid for, it is a paid holiday... It still is a dumbass idea if you think about it. "Ok guy's we are broke, but lets give them X hours for today to be paid and let them have off" Wtf? Now I do have to agree not a lot is being shipped usps anymore, because like you said of emails, but what about the usps flat rate shipping? Doesn't a lot of stuff from ebay come in that? Or is that ups?

If it makes you feel any better.... when I get a package via UPS, it shows no tracking status changes on Saturday, Sunday or holidays; it appears Brown ceases all activity then. However, my pkg from V4L was apparently "handled" over the weekend, including New Year's Day (though it wasn't touched on the 2nd):

(but the event on Dec31 seems out of sequence >whatevs/shrug<)

My order will probably be in my mailbox shortly.

I frequently see USPS long-haul semi's on the interstates on weekends, and maybe even holidays.
