Just came accross this link:

USPS Banning International Shipments of Most Battery-Powered Gadgets May 16 | News & Opinion | PCMag.com

Given that most APVs require these batteries, it's a concern. These batteries are not available here (the electronics suppliers have never heard of them) and they are probably not available in other countries either. The US sizes are not compatible with standard sizes here and only NiCad batteries are available in similar sizes.

Now's the time if you know of a reliable supplier outside the USA to let us know because who knows when the ban will be lifted? They say January 2013. We don't all have access to those who can forward mail to us from the USA.

The risks of using the wrong battery due to lack of supply are too high.

Time for a passthrough!?

You know- this is probably splitting hairs, but I do not use any L-ion batteries (that I know of- but I could be mistaken).
The batteries I now use (AW brand) are LiMN (Lithium Manganese- IMR)...a safer chemistry battery than the traditional L-ion... So is LiMN still considered a L-ion? If not, couldn't these batteries be shipped without the concern of the USPS??
