Happy New Year, Vapor4Lifers!!
One of my resolutions was to finally give my review of my Vapor King, so I thought Id knock it out on New Year's Day. (okay it's now 11:57pm PST as I review and edit this, so it will be Jan. 2nd when I finally hit "submit", but since I haven't gone to bed yet, it's still New Year's Day to me!
)
First, I said it all before in my verbose "Acceptance Speech" post, but it cant be said enough Thank You once again to everyone who nominated my slogan (without whom I wouldnt have won this fantastic prize), and, of course, HUGE THANK YOU's to Steve for the contest and the AWESOME PRIZE, to Mark for speeding my prize out to me amidst the holiday rush, and everyone else at V4L!
And yes, Marks service must be mentioned first. I sent him my shipping info. and option selections on Dec. 19th (a Sat., btw), and I dont know when he shipped it, but it was definitely fast, as I received my kit on Dec. 24th! I ordered from V4L once before (bought juice) and was very pleased with the shipping time. But this was above and beyond. I know he was swamped with holiday orders, and the priority should definitely be on people who actually placed orders (especially if they're giving them as Christmas gifts), so I certainly had no expectation of my free contest prize being anywhere near the top of his list of things to do... but I had it my hands in 4 business days (the day before Christmas, no less)... that was just phenomenal. Thank you, Sir!
On to my goodies! For those of you who don't know, I won the Ultimate Ultimatum Kit - sweeeeeeeeet!! (Happy Hanukkah to me!!) I chose one chrome and one platinum battery, and I couldn't be happier with both of those choices... the shiny chrome battery (with green LED) is simply friggin' slick... and the thing I like about both batteries (and the main reason I went with platinum even though I also chose chrome) is that they are both color neutral and every cartridge color looks great with them (seriously, great!). My purple Grape cartos and hot pink Pomegranate cartos both look perfect on these batteries. (Oh yeah, as if my Ultimate Ultimatum prize wasn't enough, Mark threw in those Pomegranate cartos as extras!) It's funny, when I first found V4L to order juice, I remember browsing the rest of the merchandise and thinking that while all of those cartomizer colors are probably very helpful, it probably leads to a ton of color clashing nightmares!
(I mean, I'm used to the uniform hi-tech slickness of my all black Volcano/Blu) Well, I'm never going to have that problem... because whether it's my dark brown tobacco cartos or neon green apple cartos, they all look sweet with chrome or platinum.
I also ordered a platinum passthrough, but my laptop is giving me problems right now, so I only tried it once, but I look forward to using it in the future. I also got the (surprise, surprise
) platinum carrying case (what can I say, I like the classy look of platinum... you can't go wrong!
) and the black PCC. Both are really nice accessories - solid, quality pieces - and at first I was wondering if I have the PCC, why would I ever use the carrying case (especially since they're both the same size), but while I haven't taken my Vapor King out much, if I'm just going out for the evening (as opposed to being gone all day), I can definitely see taking the classy platinum carrying case
... it looks sweet and with two batteries and two cartos, you're good to go! I would have to say of all the hardware, my only criticism - and this is so minor
- is that the cord on the wall charger, at one foot long, is WAY too short (and since my laptop is on its deathbed, I'm actually using the wall charger)... but that cord is not long enough to reach from a wall outlet to a desk, table, night stand, etc. (it doesn't even rest completely on the floor from a wall outlet). So big deal... look how nitpicky I have to be to come up with a single negative for the entire Ultimate Ultimatum Kit!
But now, as the Flight of the Conchords would say, "It's Business Time!"... time to talk about the vaping! Enough with the prologue and teasers... the hardware options and technical details... how do I like my friggin' Vapor King already?? Fine! I'll say it... I LOVE MY VAPOR KING!!
This thing ROCKS!! Granted, all I have to compare it to is what now looks like Mini-Me to my Chrome Dr. Evil... my first e-cig, the Volcano. I've never tried a 510 or 901 or any of those other big boys. (And don't get me wrong... I still like my Volcano and it certainly has its positives... especially on the go... in fact, the Volcano was still what I took out with me for NYE last night) But, my Vapor King BLOWS IT OUT OF THE WATER (or, lava, I guess). First, the vapor production is awesome (and I don't know what the cut-off is on these automatic batteries, but I've only hit it once or twice)... but this is what I imagined it would be like when I first ordered an e-cig... voluminous clouds of vapor... I love it! And as I've described in my story, I am - and have been since Day One - a zero nicotine vaper (discussed even more, um, introspectively here)... so I don't really get a throat hit (as far as I know). And with my Volcano, I actually wind up looking at the LED to see if I'm drawing vapor most of the time, as I usually have a hard time feeling it in my mouth. Not so with my Vapor King! I can feel the vapor fill up my mouth... it seems to have more "weight" to it, and I even feel a slight warmth to it. I gotta say, that... combined with the plumes of smoke I'm able to exhale... makes me feel like I'm smoking! The other rave I have in regards to the vapor production is the consistency, which is totally absent on my Volcano (resulting from the tiny inner carts with the incredibly feeble polyfill). These cartomizers are just amazing... the fill material and the wicking are just superior in every way... no matter how long my VK has been sitting cold or been in use, the vapor is simply consistently awesome. Now, being a zero nicotine vaper, and still switching between my Volcano, I don't vape a serious amount... but, I am still amazed I haven't killed a cartomizer yet! I'm still on my first Grape and first Pomegranate cartos (although the Grape seems to be losing its flavor). I also charged one of the batteries for the first time two days ago (who knows how many times I've charged my Volcano/Blu batteries since my VK arrived).
Then there are the flavors. Once again, no comparison to the Volcano cartridges. Now, I went with the Grape cartos because I already tried the Grape juice and loved it. But the Pomegranate is very tasty, too. I then also immediately bought some more on Christmas Day, as I was "incentivised" by the free Leaford Lanyard
, and in addition to buying Green Apple & Cola (once again, both juices I've already tried), I also bought the Coffee Shop and Tobacco Shop Samplers, and I've only tried the Cowboy carto so far, but Wow! this is already the best tobacco flavor I've had to date! I was really a little wary even trying more tobacco flavors... I previously tried the Camel and French Pipe juices, of which I liked the French Pipe, but hated the Camel (and I was a Camel Light smoker, so that was a bummer). I was expecting this Cowboy - by its name - to be an attempted Marlboro clone, but it's nothing like that... and is it just me, or is there a hint of chocolate or coffee in there? Well, I like it a lot!
The other thing I really like about the cartos are the labels... and I'm actually talking about the texture, not the labeling itself. Hard plastic cartridges are simply not as comfortable as a soft analog filter. And I know it's just a thin label, but it makes all the difference in the world as a mouthpiece... it does feel soft on the lips. Then, there is the detailed labeling and color coding which, as mentioned before, I originally thought I would find to be an aesthetic issue, but now I think looks really cool.
Have I covered everything? Well, if not, I think some of you have quickly discovered that I'll be around to fill in any blanks (and that I'm obviously not at a loss for words
). By the way, I think the last time I won any kind of contest was when I won tickets from a radio station to see the band Collective Soul at the Roxy on the Sunset Strip... and I think whether you remember who Collective Soul is or have no idea who they are, your conclusion is the same as mine... this prize kicks that prize's ....!
My Vapor King Ultimate Ultimatum Kit was definitely one of the best gifts I got this Hanukkah season, and I can tell I will be enjoying it for many Hanukkahs to come.
And despite what several of you know was a rather rough week for me on this forum, I am still happy to be a part of your Vapor4Life community... and I look forward to getting to know many of you even better.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY!
I WISH YOU ALL A HEALTHY, JOYOUS, AND PROSPEROUS 2010!!!
