What would you value a Swan at? I have the opportunity to buy an 18500 SS Swan for $450. I am under the impression that there are only around 60 or so ever made. I have contacted several owners of swans who have quoted me outrageous offers they had received in the caravela price range. Is 450 a fair price? I have wanted one for a very long time but I do not want to get ripped off. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Sometimes you just gotta have it. Its only worth what someone is willing to pay. My take on it is much like awhile back Zenesis devices garnered a kings ransom. Since then newer device have come on the market with equal performance and the Zenesis has become abundant, The price has dropped and owners are taking a beating on the original price tag. The only Zenesis still holding any real value above today high end market price of $200 brand new are the special edition pieces.

Your device being 1 of 60 you must decide if its really truly worth the extra $250.oo And at that price tag would you use it or are you simply collecting it to sit in a case because you are worried about scratching or damaging it. I USE all of my mods. I don't collect them and handle them with cotton gloves. So unless you intend to keep it to collect it SIMPLY is NOT worth it.

I understand the logic behind your opinions but the high end mod market has become a collectors market and I certainly don't mind spending some money on something rare and imo collectible. Also, I can always go back to the old, "I used to spend this much on traditional cigs," argument to justify it. Even though I am shelling out larger chunks of cash here and there, I am still not spending as much as I was before.

Paying $450 for a $145 mod is throwing good money out the window. What is it about it that want you to pay such an outrageous price for one?

Just like a Caravela, it doesn't do anything better than many other fantastic mods in the same ($200) price range.

This but it's your money. So do whatever makes you happy. Just go buy a paps and the swirly tube at Ghostmodder if you want to save a few hundred dollars. Paps Switch>

I believe more than 60 will be made, but they roll out rather slowly.

In terms of current prices, 450 is probably not that bad. Think I have seen people trying to sell or auction these at around 1000.00. No idea If they are getting what they are asking though.

In terms of collectors and long term prices, I have said before there is no way near enough info on how that is going to work out. It's like you have a few months of data, not years. So many mods, good mods, are hitting the market it seems yesterdays must have is todays old hat.

I pretty much stick to the rule of retail or nothing, have some pretty good mods. What I dont want to do is blow double or triple retail on something I can get if I am patient, or even worse look at in a year and think "Wow, I can't even get 50 bucks for this now".

Really it comes down to wether you can buy it without putting yourself in a financial bind. Its a rare piece so value on it is good, also everything that cost more and has rarity tends to make you feel better about the device and has its own personal gratifications. If you can afford it without having to worry about having money left over for bills and what not then go for it.

Oh and on another forum I saw a guy selling off his GGTS, Nemi's, Kayfun, Chi You's and other highend devices looking for "his unicorns". Among the unicorns listed that he wanted was a Swan.:)
