I just got me a Vamo V5 and I'm loving it! It is kind big and a bit heavy as compared to my ego twists but the vape is amazing. I am having so much fun with my new toy.

Christmas came early for me this year, yeah!!!

I am currently using Protanks and Evods on it, does anyone have any suggestions for different equipment to use on it that might make for an even better vape?

Thanks!

Congrates on your Vamo. I started with the twist, and my first upgrade was the V2. Great mod for the money! Lately I have been enjoying the iclear 30 on it, but you virtually use pretty much anything on the vamo.

Welcome to ECF. If you havent met the Ocelot yet, he may be a little jealus of your Avatar.

Uhhh, that's a she isn't it?

VAMO's have two modes, RMS and Mean. It changes how they measure the output power or voltage. Some of the V5 are permanently locked into RMS mode (Yeah, good thing) and some come in Mean mode by default. To find out which yours is, hold down the left button for 10 seconds. It will go blank for a second or two, then show remaking voltage on your battery and finally after 10 seconds, it will either display Output RMS or Output Mean. It's a toggle, so if you start in Mean mode, it will display Output RMS and you're done. If it displays Output Mean, then you just toggled it out of Output RMS, so repeat to put it back into RMS. If nothing displays, you can't toggle it and you're done.

Personally, I prefer wattage mode (not the same as RMS versus mean). Wattage mode measures the amount of energy being released into the system by definition. It's convenient if you're swapping devices that are approximately the same so far as efficiency. If you're not, don't worry about it. Voltage gives you half the equation but you still have to figure in the resistance of the device to know how much energy you're releasing. It doesn't matter if you're using one resistance of coil on one tank though, because that resistance is generally pretty close and can be ignored.

It shows output RMS so I guess it is fine. Must have shipped in RMS mode cuz I haven't changed that.

I think I might buy me a couple more Protanks for using on this, I really like the Protanks and I only have 2 right now. I have more evods ordered right now but I will probably use those more on the twists and use the Protanks on the Vamo. (They just look better on the Vamo,LOL!)

It shows you the new setting so you were in Mean mode. It's a bad thing and can wreck devices. Why they did that... Anyway, I really like the VAMO and Protank 2 combination. Very little fussing, mostly fill, vape, vape, vape, fill, vape, etc. wonderful for new users and those who just want a nice, hassle free vape. If it comes up short or is lacking for you in some area there are lots of alternatives.

Do you prefer a lower ohm head or higher ohm head on the Vamo?
Personally, I like the 2.2 Ohm though I'll dip into the 1.8 from time to time. If you're running in wattage mode and keep the settings the same, no big difference between the two. If you're running in voltage mode and keep the settings the same, the 1.8 will give you some more heat out.

I thought they got rid of the Mean mode in the V5.
In that endless spirit of Chinese Industrial Creativity we've become accustomed to, they announced that it was removed but it's a crap shoot if it actually is or not. I'm vaping away on a V5 right now that toggles back and forth and came in Mean mode. *Sigh*

I don't have a Protank 2 yet, both of mine are regular Protanks. Do you like the 2 better then the 1?

Opinions vary. I love the looser draw of the Protank, but the two I threw in the trash after shattering the glass made me unhappy. The PT2 has a tighter draw which I don't like as much. I don't vape anything that melts glue so that improvement doesn't matter. I dislike the removable drip tip in the PT2 because it allows liquid to pool in that area from condensation but I have never heard anyone else with the issue. Might have something to do with me living in a very humid area. I view them as pretty comparable with a slight edge to the PT2. I still use both depending on what happens to be on top in the drawer when I grab one.

And, that was the main reason I was thinking of getting the V5 instead of the pretty fuschia V2!

The high power handling of the V5 is better. I see it when dry burning coils, the V5 does great while the V2 stutters. I still like the V2 display better. I've gotten to the bifocal age and those big, bright, friendly letters are easy!

Yeah, I just did that again and it shows output mean so apparently it does go into mean mode, and I put it back into output RMS.
Maybe that is why my Protank head went out on me yesterday, luckily I always have back up heads. I'm getting ready to start rebuilding my Protank heads also. I haven't done that yet but my mom in law rebuilds hers so she's going to show me.
