Michael, ya have more patience than I! And some folk let it sit for six months or more... HOW?!?!?!?

I don't know I guess it's because I'm old.

When I do this again I'm going to do it differently, no self respecting cook would ever make a Alcohol free Vanilla Extract and I now see why. Extracting with just PG is a different animal and I think I have figured out how to do this so that the end result renders a lot more flavor, but I needed to crawl before I could walk.

That's darker than my 2 month steep. Hmmm...does the Uganda beans produce a darker color/richer flavor?

Maybe a little (not sure), but I chopped up four of the Uganda Vanilla Beans it's maybe two inches of beans in the five inch 100% PG solution you can see the break off point if you look closely. I put it in the Ultrasonic Cleaner ran it for an hour and that's what it looks like. I'll keep the present beans in for five days and then replace with fresh beans.

I would only do this much work in my still mostly unsuccessful attempts to make my own Drambuie, lol.

I just dissolve Ethyl Vanillin and it tastes fine to me.

I worked harder at getting a Genesis rba to work.

It was a sad day when they started putting Vanillin in Vanilla Wafers.

Harder to get an rba to work than making your own Drambuie? Please please please send me your recipe then! ;-)

Lol, I'm all about tinkering with little bottles. My rig consists of some clearos for home, some carts for music events where I tend to get knocked around a bit and the basic kiddy KR808D battery kit. And no plans to change that in the future. :)

No, worked harder on RBA than Vanilla Extract (100% PG).

I can't send pictures via PM bummer.

I just started my new Vanilla Extract this is what it looks like after one hour

Hi Michael, I just made that also with half of a bean in around 7-8 ml of PG. When do you think you'll try and taste your last batch? I'm wondering because maybe it needs more than 8 weeks since it's not steeping in an alcohol solution and also to know when I should taste my extract :)

Since this isn't Alcohol I would suggest getting some more Vanilla Beans and change the beans after a week or so. I've found that the longer you let the Beans sit in PG the sweeter it gets, but not more Vanilla Flavor.

BTW

You can taste it anytime you want just remember it needs to be concentrated enough to be of any use.
