Vape for a reclining (in bed) person?

The application is for someone who cannot move well and is stuck in bed. The current idea is to have the vaporizer /atomizer connected hooka style to a tip that the user actually uses. Thus the tank has to stay unmoving in one position and must wick well. OR the other option is where the cig or unit is kept pointing to the sky (or 45 degrees at least) with very little movement. In this position a bottom coil would become dry. And a top coil would flood -- or would it?
(This is quite a mod I'm planning...)

One thing so, with it inverted, eventually you will have fluid build up at the (inverted) tip... You'll probably have to make something like an S-shaped drip/mouthpiece to catch that.

THIS-

Like a P-Trap under a sink.

Or just get a long and curved drip tip and a mount for the mod itself.

It seems what I really need would be an upside down bottom coil. Where the vapor comes out of the battery end. If a top coil would not leak when reversed (coil under liquid, e.g. 45 degrees up) or perhaps only horizontal that might work.
While they don't go as long what about a cartomizer. Aren't they full of fluff and can be held in any position? I don't like having to replace them all the time or refill them, but are they not angle independent?

Interesting project hughdini. It will be interesting to see what you come up with.

As someone pointed out further up the thread, you could use a cartomizer in a carto-tank. Tanks can hold a lot of liquid. With a top coil cartomizer and a hole punched nearer the top you could tilt it past 90 degrees and it would wick well. I don't know how leak resistant it would be but I think your end-user would end up swallowing less juice than with an inverted clearomizer.

The tube idea sounds good to me too, with a bcc. Something like the gooseneck but acting only as a long driptip.

Anyway, good luck and welcome to the forum.

I am bedridden in a reclining position such as you describe and I have difficulty holding onto my e-cig as well, and have, on a few occasions, had a mouth full of juice instead of vapor. I was thinking about a pipe as someone mentioned, but I drop things and can't pick them up if they are out of reach, even if they are in the bed. I would be interested in finding out what you come up with. I am sure that with the talent I see just on my first day here someone will have the knowledge to help you. It seems so far that all of my questions have been asked, or I have found many answers just reading where things take me.

Best of luck, and if someone comes up with a great suggestion, I would love to hear about it or see a picture. My first day and I have already learned more than I have learned in nearly four years of dumping my analogs. I am sure you will find a solution, and maybe I could benefit from ideas as well. Thanks for asking such a great question.

well if your so inclined to rebuild a coil, the spheriod atty, or a steam machine. a dripper style wick with a polyfilled SS body that will not spill and can be vaped in any position until dry(about 3 ml) absolutely bulletproof. youll snap an ego before you break this atty. not exactly cheap but you only buy one.

lol phil isnt exactly the best wick builder.

I guess the first thing I would try is

- obtain the biggest, longest lasting automatic battery I could find (if there ARE any larger-sized ones...)
- top it with a good sized clearomizer
- fashion a wooden, somewhat weighted or clamped-down rack for the battery that I could place on a table next to the bed
- get some appropriate stuff like aquarium tubing long enough to reach the subject
- maybe get a drip tip for the end

...and see what happens.

Just a total guess out of left field. The subject would have to be able to suck hard enough to activate the battery and might have to take more than one hit to fill the tube, though...

The Pali is new to me and is like a bottom coil but with a wick. Will it wick efficiently when bottom up? Hmmm... Or I could fill the canister with fluff. Springs hold the coil which I don't like. Making good contact for me need to have more mechanical "gas-tight" i.e. screw connections. But the basic idea is great.

I haven't found a big automatic battery, i.e. sensitive to a draw. But I can fashion a remote switch easily.
If a tube is used and it takes several hits that might be a problem. Many idea are starting to gel.

don't point it toward the sky. lmao. get a swivel tip attachment, or on Iclear 30, comes with swivel. Personally, I would rather have a tank that fills itself and was self cleaning and self building, but it ain't gonna happen in my life time. Sounds like you need the Hookah passthrough mod, to sit on the side with tube attached.
