I just read a thread where the thread starter mentioned he was currently in a "vape funk". I found the term pretty interesting, because I go through something quite often that I too consider a vape funk, anyone else experience this?

Basically, it is when none of my juices taste like they should. I haven't been able to figure WHY it happens, but it happens every now and then.

Literally, it is like no matter what e-liquid I vape, it just doesn't taste right. I've never been able to track down the problem, but I think it lies with me, because I've checked my coils, cleaned my devices, and tried several juices of which I normally enjoy the taste a lot.

I wonder if it is just something weird with taste buds? Does anyone else go through this as well?

Some call it "Vapor's Tongue". It happens. What I do is put about 1/2 tsp. (est) in a small glass of water (6-8oz) and mix. Then I take some in my mouth, swish it around good and spit. Repeat until it's all gone. That often jump starts things and puts the ol' buds back to working right again. You may have to repeat the process throughout the day depending on your situation.

Sorry! What I meant was 1/2 tsp. of baking soda in a small glass of water.

All the time. When I did some looking into it, I found a few things about "vaper's tongue." Since reading that your tongue can start registering flavors as bland, I've started to drink lots of water while vaping. Since then, I haven't run into the funk again. I also try to switch flavors every other tank of juice to keep from over saturating myself on one flavor.

I read "Vape Funk" as a low period rather than vapers tongue .
In that respect I am just getting out of one now ....
All the atties got fouled with too strong juices ... then an o ring split ... then oxidized contacts on two mods .... then a battery gave up the ghost ...... ceramic cup was covered in some gunk .....
Took me nigh on six hours to strip , clean and service all the gear .
Now just rebuild and mix some juices .

Lordy the maintenance periods and intervals are enough to keep you too busy to even think of a ciggie !

I use the phrase, Vaper's Tongue to describe the lack of 'normal' flavor in a regularly vaped juice. Nothing tastes the same, the tanks, cartos, clearos, RBAs are all putting out funky tasting juice. I brush my tongue and start vaping Extreme Ice or Cinnamon Red Hot, it clears right up.

Now, a Vaper's Funk is when nothing vapes right, no PV or topper or juice hits the spot to kill my craving. I think that it is a mild depression, personally. I usually go on a spending spree, try new PVs, new toppers, new juices... Buying doesn't HELP me out of the funk, but when I am out of my vape funk I have lots to play with LOL

EDITED to add: Someone mentioned drinking lots more water. I have found that dehydration is INDEED a part of my Vaper's Funk. It is almost like getting the first signs of the flu. Drink water for days and hydrate and it seems to get me bouncing back and out of my funk.

Thank you! I will definitely give it a try. I honestly didn't think there was anything that could help with it, so I'm excited to see if it helps any.

Usually, the only thing I do is wait it out. Sometimes it is just for half a day....sometimes a full day, and sometimes a FEW days...which really sucks.

I actually just ordered my first carto tank from VVV, since I'm a clearo guy, I figured having a carto tank around would help, since switching up eliquids and delivery devices seems to help stimulate the taste buds.

Ahhhhh, so the correct tongue for what I made this thread on is "vaper's tongue". And "vape funk" is when things just aren't working right (devices/hardware).

That makes total sense. Vaper's tongue is a liquid/flavor issue, and vape funk is a hardware issue....I guess that is a simplistic (and mostly accurate) way of looking at it.

Well, luckily I don't have vaper's tongue right now (but I did 2 days ago)....but I definitely in a vape funk then. I'm running out of 32g kanthal.....my pro tank isn't hitting right.....and my ONLY other delivery devices....2 evods.....had to be tossed a few days ago, as I realized they were both badly cracked inside :(

Literally ALL I have right now is ONE pro tank, and 2 twist batteries. I don't have the cash right now to upgrade much either.

I did purchase a VVV carto tank, which should be coming soon - and today I'm going to order another delivery device, just not sure what yet. Either a smoktech aro or maybe a kanger pro tank 2 mini.

I really like the Triple V tanks. Using a gold one right now on my Trixie. Did you get pyrex, or the polypro? And did you get the grommet style or the metal end caps?

I've got quite a few VVV tanks as well, polypro for everyday & work and the pyrex for flashing them off LOL I've got the gold capped pyrex and polypro for my newly arrived TVS and Sentinel =] They look GORGEOUS!

If you are not getting enough flavor from the Boge carto in the VVV tank and the juice tastes 'muted', consider double punching them. It was suggested by a friend and *WHAM* the flavor is MAGNIFICENT!

I think I know what you mean, and yeah, every so often I just get an "off day" -- nothing tastes right. Not that the juices taste bad, they just ain't thrillin' me like they normally do.

I usually chock that up to something being out of whack with my taste buds that day. Some days I just tough it out and ignore it, other days I'll leave the PV alone all day and take snuff instead, pick up the vaping fresh the day after.

Sure have. But usually when people complain of "vaper's tongue" it's related to just not being able to taste the flavor. As you posted in your OP, you notice a change in flavor. Yes, I have experienced that, with exactly the same juice from the same bottle. Usually it happens when I've been over-vaping. If I put down my little baby for a bit longer between vapes it seems to fix itself after a short time.
