Vape Los Angeles Oni Mod Interview

Here's an interview with vape Los Angeles' Harry Cometa from Vapetoberfest 2013. Harry talks about the company's Oni mod, which has been getting a ton of buzz on the West Coast. For $150, you get a mod made from 316 stainless steel (most mods are made from cheaper 303 or 304 stainless steel). It has two firing pins (gold-plated brass and silver-plated copper) and a magnetic switch too. Vape Los Angeles claims that the Oni mod is made in the USA too.

It looks like a great deal on paper and I'll have a full review up soon. I do have some suspicions on whether it's "made" in the USA or "assembled" in the USA.

On a related note, some people are accusing Vape Los Angeles of selling rebranded EHPro mods. There are some...interesting similarities between the EHPro Nzonic clone and the Oni. I'll reach out to the company later today to see if I can get a response. For now, here's a photo so that you can see the mechanical similarities.

A lot of vapers are attacking on Vape Los Angeles on Facebook and forums. I still want to hear more info from the company. For now, I have to give them props for hiring Claudia Alan as their spokesmodel for Vapetoberfest 2013. Just...wow.

I suspect, when the bottom of this is reached, we'll find that the Oni is simply a re-branded clone of the EhPro Nzonic... of course, in turn, itself a clone of the MM Nzonic. Who it's actually made by for VXLA... as yet to be clearly determined?

I don't know if "props" would be my choice of word to describe the use of Claudia as their shill... more an intentional distraction. Perhaps most annoying was the "We started on the Oni 6 months ago"... apparently, an outright lie.

Waiting to see what's at the bottom of this pit of deception. ;-)

Ugh so much drama over this and its not looking good for VXLA. I gave them the benefit of the doubt but now its just like a never-ending hole of suspicion. Theres a thread on a Vape GB FB group thats like over 200+ or 300+ posts by now all about this....

So, after I posted that the address is a private home address in Chino Hills, and posted the name of the owner of the company and the address they had on the site (The registered owner of the residence in Chino Hills), VXLA have taken that info off of their site. These shady .......s deserve to be put out of business for taking advantage of the vape community

Here is a link to their site's contact info. The names of the contacts are Military phonetic alphabet, not real names. Everything about this company stinks of scam. The Oni mod and EHPro Nzonic clone are fully interchangeable.

Can you do me a favor and take pics of these side by side with firing buttons in full view for comparison, then pics of both disassembles with parts next to each other for full comparison? I think Oni owners that feel defrauded by VXLA could have a full lawsuit against the company due to US laws. VXLA needs to be held responsible for defrauding it's customers.

Just order 500 Nzonic clones from EhPro (you can have any art work you want at that order level)... and even if it's a picture of your mom baking a cake, with Japanese writing that translates to "Moms makes the best cakes"... it would still be a better (and cooler) mech than the ONI.

I believe they were offering refunds but last time I checked, no one seems to have received it yet. Plus, they said something about a restocking fee as well.

Restocking fee my .... If someone got a halfway decent lawyer, and brought them a sample of the ONI and the EHPRO Nzonic, I believe that Vape LA could be in a lot of trouble. It makes no difference that they've offered a refund. They misled people into believing that they were buying an original mod, made and designed by their company in the US. Small claims court is another option. Initially the complaintant will have to pay the court costs to file the paperwork, but they'd get all of the money back when they won the case and could ask for damages also. Those guys at Vape LA should be very happy that I didn't buy one of their mods because I'd spare nothing to make sure they felt like they'd just been used on a cell block like a peace pipe at a treaty signing.

I can almost see these doing well in resale if the price is right... an interesting collectors item perhaps? Or... "why I was dumb enough to buy a bad copy of an EhPro Nzonic".

Wow this is some crazy stuff. I like the screenshot of someone's "chat" with an ehpro rep as if it is any way to hold truth to their defense. If they are guilty I surely hope they go down in flames for what they have done to the vaping community.

WOW, just listened to the segment and I have agree with their suspension that Activape and VapeLA are of the same company. Oh well, just another shady business in SGV. With this rebranding fiasco, it kinda make you wonder how many of the "high-end" US mods are actually made in China...
