WOW, just listened to the segment and I have agree with their suspension that Activape and VapeLA are of the same company. Oh well, just another shady business in SGV. With this rebranding fiasco, it kinda make you wonder how many of the "high-end" US mods are actually made in China...

Yep, and these losers lied to their customers. They're no different then any lowlife thief and I really hope that they get exposed on a more public level.

So, Apparently they also had some other business, and finally the 3 businesses in question are linked to another business with, guess..., bad reputation as well... http://www.titanimport.com

AND...
If anyone else on here has/had/bought an Oni mod, did you receive the e-mail today regarding the new 18650 tube they are mailing out? If so did you reply and give them your address?

I did not receive an email about the 18650 tube. Curious.

The company also hasn't responded about doing a followup interview.

I believe people did not get an e-mail if their mod was/has not been registered yet on their site.

RE: my previous post of info, the information I provided came from the FB Group: "For Better or Worse: Oni Owners". I just gave a SUPER TL;DR version.

Strange. I'm definitely registered.

I replied to their email earlier this week with my address, we'll see if they send out the tube as promised. At this point if they live up to that I'll be satisfied. The unfortunate thing is it's still a pretty good mod despite everything that has gone on and now sets a bad precedent of questioning new modders whose works may bear resemblance to an established mod.

The problem is that this mod doesn't bear a resemblance to an established mod , it is an established mod down to the parts that are interchangable. The bigger issue is the mod that it is can be had for $50 , not the $185 it is selling for in some shops. Activape , Egovape are the same shady company that sells the same mods for different prices. They have a huge business with EH pro and it was easy for them to formulate this scam because they order the min 500 pieces and then have EH Pro customize the tubes. Do not confuse scammers with being new modders. If you bought one of these , you are going to have to be ok with it at the end of the day because there is no other choice but don't make excuses for bad people that take advantage of others.

I'm not saying VXLA are new modders, I'm saying they're screwing up entry for new modders if there's a resemblance to something already in existence as the new modder may have a legit product, but the question of "is this ANOTHER VXLA incident?" will quickly pop up. I bought one, I got scammed, but I'm making the best of that choice by using it as it is still a solid mod. Just not a $150 mod.

Got the new 18650 tube today, and the mod looks much better with it in there

Well, it seems like VXLA/Activape isn't issuing any refunds for the clONI. I'm assuming that class-action suit can take effect now...

You know i live in Ventura County, 45 min north of LA. 805 vape, or the Vapor Connection. Two locations changed name to move out of Ventura County. My first experience i thought they were taking advantage of people. That was because I was used to my old cig store turned vapor lounge.... They have clones, but they let you know. As far as Vapor connection i just bought an aqua atty. lazer etched and numbered. They will carry a clone if it is like the kayfun/Russian deal. Not order a rocket and call it a kayfun. If you are local they do a great job and customer service is outstanding.

^I dont support their vape shop. I had extremely horrible service when they were 805 Vapor. That aside, they totally screwed over a few people I know.
For example, a friend of mine goes into their store ready to buy something nice to get him started.... so this is what he purchases:
-Brass Mortar
-Helios RDA
-MNKE batteries
-pay for them to build it with ekowool

And guess what they built him?
A 2.87 ohm dual coil. THATS WORSE THAN A PROTANK! Unacceptible in my opinion. Ripped him off, and he was mislead, over-charged, yada-yada.

And on top of it, the first time I went to that store, They had no idea what an RDA was.... um you're a vapor store, you should know these things...
off of my soapbox now

Fasttech now has an Oni clone. That's...funny.

This is mighty scandalous, so much so that even though I don't really care for the looks, I kinda still want it because of its infamy ... seriously. And I wouldn't be surprised if its not a clone per se, but the actual Oni Mod which was already a clone.

The timing of this is so chilling ... I received an unrelated email two days ago from a contact in China who was all ga ga because an American modder had visited a factory in Shenzhen, with whom the modder signed a contract for a limited quantity run of a mod he designed. She said that the factory was also going to produce the clone after the modders first run was completed ... she was asking in the email if I knew that some US modders has their designs manufactured in China? ... Um, yeah I do.
