Is it the battery device getting hot, or the tank holding the juice?

A tank may get hot, because it contains the heating coil which turns the liquid into vapor.

A battery should never get hot. Ego-style batteries use LiPo battery chemistry, which is not safe chemistry. These batteries can vent flames and/or explode when they go into thermal runaway (battery failure).

Baditude is right, those types of pens aren't good quality but if you notice the battery heating up just toss it man it's not worth losing a hand or scaring up your face.

If it's not the battery and you only notice the tip or tank getting hot on long inhales then it's just cuz as previously mentioned it's not very good. I'd send you my opinion on what you should try and get but I'm actually working on a new YouTube video for beginning setups and I'll send you a link to that if you'd like.

i posted another thread as where to go next, any recommendations under 50 bucks to go next? i would prefer a starter kit with glass tank, but to be honest, im lost and idk where or how to look for it
Don't worry we've all been there before. The best place to start is usually your local vape shop or the opinions of the people ex. YouTube, forums, etc. anything that has the thoughts of people (preferably not endorsed). Lol Don't just go to google and type in vape kit under $50, it could work and that's what I did when I started but if I followed through with that I would have regret it. The web is just overflowing with product and a lot of the "review articles" seem to be from people that don't know much of Vaping. If you really want a kit that will get you started and won't regret later on I highly recommend increasing your price range by $10-$20. If you can do that you will be so much better off and you won't be waiting money like I did when I started. Lol
