Vaping in the school, right out in the open, doesn't seem like a very good idea. I have no problem walking thru the grocery store, public library, resturaunts, Walmart, etc., in my own personal cloud. I know how to stealth vape, but not in an environment that is all about healthy kids. I'm not at all worried about all that second hand jive, but I am not going to make myself a bad example to a room full of kid athletes.

Guess I shoulda kept my mouth shut.

Political correctness appears to be the big issue for most. Most of us want everyone to understand and accept our smoking "alternative". I can see both sides, so I actually practice both, I usually don't vape anywhere I have not asked permission to do so at, but, on the flip side, I have taken a couple vapes in an airport. We happen to be caught up in the insanity of trying to get vaping recognized as safe and relatively harmless and trying to do what we like freely without persecution, but also trying not to offend anyone so that eventually vaping will get recognized for its benefits. It is a very fine line that at times is nearly impossible to follow. What is alright at one time isn't at another. I wish we didn't have to .....foot around about it, but with our increased legal scrutiny, it is almost impossible. I don't want to screw up and be the reason for getting e-cigs and nicquid banned. I could just imagine the headline..."child dies from drinking e-liquid", with small mention of the irresponsibility of the parent, but most blame placed on the devices themselves. It is sad the way we must live anymore.

I wonder if there ever was a time it would have been acceptable to light a cigarette in the high school gym. I don't remember it being okay in my 45 years. Why would it be okay to vape here now? Tobacco or no, its not a habit that I want to advertise as being appropriate in a school environment.
Hey OP, I definitely get your drift about "vaping in the boys bathroom". : )

Actually, when I was in high school (70's) one could see the teachers smoking in different places, mostly their "lounge" when the door would open and the smoke would oooze out. I think I recall seeing a coach or two on the sidelines at high school basketball game smoking a cigar. That used to be the cool thing for basketball coaches to do. It even lasted into the 90's with some college coaches.

Concerning how others might feel about us vaping in the open....I don't blame them for their possible concern. After all, there was a time where the general public was told the smoke from smokers cigs wasn't harmful to even the smokers...heck, if you look closely at my avatar pic that's a couple of Tour de France riders firing up after a leg of that race in the 30's! Back then it was believed that smoking actually helped "open up the lungs".

I recently went up the ranks to ask my agency supervisor if I could vape at work. She was actually very considerate about it, talked with agency doctors, HR and everything. Of course...they said that any nicotine substance simply wasn't allowed outside of approved areas. My group supervisor thought they were just a bit nuts since I wasn't using cancer-causing substances....but we still do exhale nicotine....her husband recently started vaping...and after a talk with me, I did advise her to keep it away from the baby...remember...no matter how long we hold it in...some nicotine does come out. So..as much as we like getting away from the cancer sticks...lets still be considerate of others that want nothing to do with nicotine.
