I think it's mostly you adjusting to the changes in your body. The way you breathe and your lungs in generally have changed recently, you're going to have to compensate for it. More than likely you're breathing like you did when you smoked, breathe deeper. To really project and get a good tone you need to really fill your lungs via your diaphragm, and there's a lot more of it to fill now.

I'm a vocalist as well, and I noticed that my singing has gotten a lot more consistent (no more mid-note cough itch!), but I lost a bit of that growl I loved so much. Even so, don't stop singing! If you truly love it, keep at it, you have to practice to get your stride back. I know all too well the frustrations of your voice simply not sounding like you think it should, but you can get past it and your voice will be better for it.

Try some simple vocal excersizes, practice your breathing, and sing your songs until you nail 'em 3 times in a row. Then again. :D

Studies have shown that pg and vg aren't irritants for most people, but a small percentage of people can be sensitive to either one. Pg does less to protect you from other irritants than vg, so a higher vg ratio can help. The main irritant is nic, with alcohol a close second. Try to find some flavors that have very little or no alcohol in them. Some of the berry flavors that I love have been extracted in alcohol, and I can't vape them for more than a few hours without developing sandpaper throat.

Get some honey. Before singing take a teaspoon of honey and practice at getting it to the back of your tongue for a few seconds before swallowing it. Another dose after 45 minuets to an hour. (If there's any better throat grease than honey I don't know what it would be lol.)

If you're not doing it already, jump on line and search out some free lessons. Always practice into a recording device, even if it's just a cheap mic on you pc. You'll be singing like a bird in no time. tweet, tweet, tweedle-ee dee. :vapor:
