soi just got home from a small trip and brought my blu with me, and some juices too.
naturally, im not going to try to vape on the darn plane, but was preparing myself to get the business from TSA when going thru security (no checked bags)...and they didnt even bat an eye at the stuff! awesome, yes?

just wondering if anyones had a hassle before? has anyone had the kahones to vape on the plane even? personally, i feel it would just be weird and not well-received....but a long flight when i was a smoker was hell to not smoke for so many hours...could you sneak it in the lav & not get tackled by the flight staff?

I'd just go to the lav. If you use a juice with not too much aroma no one would be the wiser. When my wife was in ER I just went to the restroom every hour or so, chain vaped for a few minutes an no one knew. Once you're in there who's gonna have the guts to bust in on you? Some people say don't vape where you can't smoke, but I think there's times when you just NEED a vape.

I had an eGo in a bag that was xrayed as carry on and they re xrayed it and checked it. I told the gentleman that there was a lithium ion battery in there, but nothing that was sharp. When he located it in the bag, I explained the e-cig thing to him. He asked me if it worked and I told him "like a charm". He smiled, no big deal. On the return trip I kept the eGo in my pocket and put it in the basket so that TSA could see it. I didn't even get a question. I bet they see quite a few of them.

Without explaining what e-cigs are to every single passenger on the plane, plus getting permission from the flight crew, there could be a problem openly vaping on a plane. The smokers would be jealous and the non-smokers would be...well, you know.

You could probably get away with it in the lav, just don't over do it. They do have smoke detectors in there and a heavy enough cloud of vapor could activate it. Then they come pounding on the door, and land the plane at the nearest airport where you are cuffed, taken to police HQ, questioned and put on the NO Fly List.

Well, that might be a worst case scenario. LOL, Vapes on a Plane. A new B movie.

I blew vapor over and over again at our smoke detector, right up close at it. I did it for about 5 minutes straight and nothing. it's not smoke, so I don't see how it can set off a smoke detector unless the ones on planes detect something besides smoke. The vapor is cool, so even if it's set to detect heat, it wouldn't be set off.

Yea theres quite a few threads on this.

Many people report successfully vaping in airplane bathrooms. A fair number also reported being able to stealth vape in thier seat (I'd want a real light flavor for that...). There is a post from someone who vapes and is a flight attendant stating that heavy vapor WILL set off the smoke alarms in the bathroom, so make sure to blow the vapor down.

There are also some reports from people who asked/explained to the flight attendants, with mixed results.

Personally I would just use the bathroom, or snuggle up under a blanket/jacket to get a few puffs in.

I had mine in my purse, no problems. Vaped on the plane - I was kinda stealth about it, but not really hiding it. People near me realized what it was and asked about it. In the terminals, I vaped in the restaurants, but not in waiting areas, where it seemed like everyone was just sitting there looking around.

Be interesting to see if the airlines come up with a policy on this. Smoking was banned because the smoke stays in the air - but vapor is pretty clean (and smells a lot better than the gas people let off on long flights... yuck!). If the FDA continues their scare campaign though it could get tough.
