Vaping and drinking?

Ok so I'm in my first week of vaping (very happily!), and am wondering about how it goes with alcohol? I started smoking in high school at parties where, after having a few drinks, I was craving cigarettes naturally. It was bizarre, as if I'd always been a smoker and all I needed was that cue from booze to turn on the desire. That's when I started, and ever since then the best thing about having drinks is how awesome smoking is in unison.

Pretty sick, really!

So cut to now. I'm loving my e-cig, and am going to my first party this weekend. Worried that if I have a beer I'm going to jones too bad to resist an analog.

So throwing this out there: what have your experiences been like? Are you satisfied? Any strategies to curb the urge?

Well, that was a concern for me too at first. I thought I might regress to cigs when I have a few beers. But it turns out, no problem.

I find that my standard everyday vaping satisfies as much with alcohol as did the cigs back then. Of course my standard everyday vaping is "chain vaping".

Agree with you. Only one problem, when you overdo it you´ll have a tremendous hangover, like allways. lol.

You'll be fine. Just remenber that your ecig IS your cigarette now. Just make it through tonight and you will see that vaping is much more enjoyable. Just one drag from a nasty cig will make your mouth taste like crap and your ecig will taste bad for a little while. Just vape the heck out of your ecig tonight. You can do it.

When I first quit analogs I went to my brothers house two Sundays in a row.Of course we cooked out and played horseshoes.Us southern boys love our beer when we play lol.So it was my first two times being out and drinking and my little 510 slim just could not keep up with those Bud Lights. So I had 3 analogs on both of the Sundays.Guess 3 was the magic Sunday number, sure beats the the pack and a half I would've smoked if I didn't even have that 510.So now I have a Riva and I will put it to the test tonight against those mean ole Bud Lights.I'm sure my Riva can handle the task.

I was drinking on Friday night with smoker friends who were all smoking in a heated garage. Saturday night a small party with what seemed to be all non-smokers. The 'smokers' party were all local friends, the other party I didn't know most people there.

I vaped my face off Friday night. I avoided smoking AND vaping on Saturday (until I drove home). The odd thing for me was that the hits were just not doing the trick and I found myself constantly vaping to try and get a good hit. On the hour drive home from the non-smoker party, I was convinced my Vmod needed a new carto (it's working fine this morning).

I took one hit from a friend's analog on Friday, and the warm chest hit was dramatic. I find that the vaping does what I initially wanted it to do — keep me from chain-smoking analogs while working in front of the computer all day (or watching TV etc.). That worked so well I thought "hey, maybe I can quit!". I don't go out drinking all that often anymore, but the muted effect of the vaporizer (Vmod XL no less) while drinking makes it a bit more difficult.

This morning, I am getting good hits off the Vmod so It's obviously working fine.

Any suggestions? Higher mg of nicotine? Switch up flavors?

Tried this the other night.....had beers....beer more than wine always tasted better with tobacco (for me)....so, vaped away...all night..thing didn't leave my hand it seems. Tasted great, felt great but the best part?....waking up in the AM (yea, little hung over) but my lungs didn't feel like I smoked a pack..which was always the case. It was as though I drank only....now that is COOL :)

A higher nic level might help. I vape 24mg in the morning, 18mg during the day, 24mg when drinking, because I know I'll be craving. 24 mg after 5 or 10 puffs definitely makes me feel a little buzzy and I don't crave cigs at all.
Also if people are going outside to smoke, when they come back in they'll stink so bad you'll be turned off smoking for the rest of the night, lol.

There's one interesting phenomenon with mixing drinking with vaping that no one's mentioned yet in this thread.

As you gain more experience with vaping, you'll discover that some e-liquid flavors actually create a synergy with beer/wine/booze flavors. This synergistic effect is completely different from the "smoke goes with" effect of mixing tobacco smoke with alcohol.

Here's an example. I've discovered that, for me, a lime/menthol e-liquid (TopVapes' Key lime freeze in particular) synergizes magnificently with a good, single-barrel rum taken neat. The rum brings out the complexity of the Key lime component of the e-liquid, and the Key lime plus menthol components highlight both the caskiness and all the subtle underflavors of the rum.

Here's another (if you DIY). I made up an e-liquid concoction consisting of dark chocolate with a hint of menthol. On the face of it, this sounds kinda disgusting, and the e-liquid is somewhat *blech* by itself. (I was trying to make something resembling the late, lamented Marshall Fields' Frango Mint flavor.) But couple that e-liquid with a cheap, Central Valley (usually bearing the DOC "California") Cabernet sauvignon wine, and the combination is just magical.

If I weren't off the analogs, I'd have to say I prefer vaping to smoking when drinking adult beverages.
