So I used to get sick a lot as a smoker... It didn't seem to matter who was sick and how little contact I had with them, I always got it...

Anyway, I think we all remember what it was like to smoke a cig while sick; it tasted stale, the smoking would jab my lungs with pains and it just wasn't a very pleasant experience. But when I made the switch to e-cigs I didn't know what to expect when I was sick as a dog and wanted to take a vape.

Well, over the last 5 days I have been sick with the flu (kill me now! lol jk), and have been trying to vape for the whole time with little success. When at my worst during this flu, I tried to vape a few juices and all of them were not too pleasant.

Juices tasted burned, the vapor was actually a little painful to inhale and I would go into a coughing fit every time :(. I was amazed how my sickness effected the vaping experience just as drastically as cigarettes.

So to anyone who is curious, IME, vaping while sick can prove to be difficult and will at least remind you of what it was like to smoke analogs while at your sickest.

Anyone else notice this or have a different experience to share?

I’ve only had a sore throat from a cold and I thought vaping was much nicer than smoking under those conditions.

Well tbh, this is the first time in pretty much 2 years I have been this sick. So vaping is proving to still be healthy but when you are so sick you can't leave your bed the experience changes a lot, at least it did for me.

I've got some kind of sore throat/chest cold/infection right now; am hacking up all sorts of lovely goo. I do find the vapor is a little more prickly feeling than normal, but nowhere near as bad as it was compared with smoking. The juice isn't tasting too different; it tasted kind of 'meh' the first few days but so did any food I ate. I think if your lungs are irritated they're not going to like whatever you put in them, be it smoke or vapor.

Order some wor won ton soup, I've been eating a ton of that and it seems to be helping. Can't hurt, at least :) Hope you feel better soon, sucks to be ill when it's so nice out lately.

I feel your pain! lol, I noticed it was mildly prickly for the first few days and it was very minor compared to smoking, it wasn't until these last 2 days that I wasn't able to vape much at all. It went from a prickle to an all out 5 minute coughing fit.

I have been trying green tea, honey, neocitran and vitamins to get over this thing, I sure hope you don't have the same flu (I had the exact same symptoms, but add nausea) because it is a nasty one... Rivals the flu I had in Calgary when I experienced my first Chinook.

No nausea here, did get the spins while doing ladder work earlier this week, which was fun (kind of a "bend over and grab the top of the ladder until the spinning stops" deal). Mostly it's been drink lots of Earl Grey green tea, 20 minute hot steam showers to help with expectoration, lots of soup, chicken and yogurt - so far have still been able to work, haven't been at home in bed yet. If it worsens I'll for sure post a vaping opinion. Vaping while sick has got to be better than smoking with double pneumonia. Man that hurt.

lickwid, thank you!! forgot I had some NFN Cool and Smooth lying around, vaping it now. My sinuses just opened up and my chest feels better than it did a few minutes ago!

No doubt! I felt that just reading it. I would imagine vaping would be thousands of times less painful than that.

Between the Menthol, Green Tea, Neo Citran and rest, I have been getting better by rocking Fable The Lost Chapters, lol, mindless repetitive video gaming is a good distraction from the flu. Though, trying to reap medieval mayhem and blow your nose at the same time takes talent I simply don't have

Oh boy was I ever a sick little girl when I was smoking analogs! It was unreal. I swear I missed 2 months of work a year cuz of it. I quit in January and started vaping and got ill with pneumonia. I tried to vape too, and ouch. It stung like a bee in the back of my throat. I asked a friend from ECF, Blondielocs and she told me it was the pg. And yes the taste was nasty too. I think when you are sick with a nose and throat issue, smoking or vaping is still going to hurt. there is no way around it, but I was thinking, perhaps an all vg juice would be better and somthing that doesn't have much flavor, no citrus stuff, and definately no tobacco flavors. Shoot, I think that just narrowed it down to...DONT VAPE!

I was so sick when I ordered my first pv, but I got sick from detailing a moldy van. nothing tasted good. I had to mix the strongest flavours I had to taste and feel like smoking. but that wasn't a lung thing, it was all stomach and lower hehe. still can't believe I lost so much weight in a few days... 45 lbs

you know.. I actually had the OPPOSITE effect lol

I got really sick with Bronchitis awhile back and woke up with a sore throat often in the morning. After vaping for a couple minutes, it actually made my throat feel better... since my throat was so sore any throat kick seemed to be non-existant instead of making it worse (which smoking did)

If I had any sort of sore throat, smoking would send me into a coughing fit or make my throat worse. Vaping actually seemed to do the opposite for me. It felt a bit like it was coating my throat because it made it a lot easier to swallow without any scratchiness.

Definitely didn't make me cough or anything. I was quite surprised.

Well I do know for sure that the vaping itself warded off the chest infection for a while. I will have a cough and a runny nose for a few weeks I think, but I am overall feeling a lot better now. Glad to be pretty much over it, that's for sure!
Glad to hear you are on the mend!
