Hey guys,

I watched alot of documentaries on vaping and stuff, and decided I would push myself to make the switch again. I started vaping back 8 months ago, but had some issues after a few months, working in a shop and started smoking tobacco again. Then I had some issues with my vaporizer I bought, gurgling and flooding, leaking etc.... I thought I needed a new one. I went to my vape shop a few days ago, and the guy helped me remove a weird o ring that was in my tank, probably messing up my seal with the coil. Then it was like so amazing the hits I was taking on the vape, even though it was an old one.

I'm really motivated, and so far I have only had like 2 cigarettes in the last 2 days, and that is coming from about 10+ cigarettes a day ! So I'm proud of myself so far, and working on just vaping only. The only thing is, I'm using so much liquid at 32 W... I had half a bottle of 3 mg and I'm almost done, after 2 days, I vape almost all the time too. Is it normal?

Cheers,
protocy

Hi @protocy and welcome...

Sounds like we're in the same boat....I was doing the pen vape thing (South Beach Air) for the longest time...then went back to cigarettes...and recently got back onto vaping, this time with a mod. I can go a couple of days without a cigarette, then have one or two, then two days without -- while vaping 3mg ejuices.

Tonight I picked up a 120ml of my favorite ejuice in 6mg to see if I can finally obliterate the craving for those occasional cigarettes. The extra nic gives me a little more of a kick which I think might just get me over that last hurdle.

Cheers, buddy,

JD

Well I was using 12 mg before, and only using my vape at 15W, and the guy in the store said I shouldn't use 12mg, since it was too heavy for the vape to heat up or something...so I got some 3mg, (30ml bottles x 3), and a new coil, and he helped remove a weird o-ring inside it. Since then it has been working really smooth and the taste is great. So I think 3mg is working for me for now... I still have some 12 mg left in case, but like I said, apparently I should not be using 12mg with my specific unit?

Interesting...ok. I guess what he meant was I would need a much higher Wattage for vaping 12mg. I'm only using 32 W with the 3mg juice, and it makes really nice clouds and tastes great. So for now if it's working, I won't change back. Eventually I would like to vape nicotine free in the future. Are some vapers generally able to go 0 mg nicotine eventually? Or do most people keep a small amount for long periods of time?

If you can vape the 12mg without coughing and you want more nic than 3mg then vape it. I just got my brother vaping finally, he is subohming and 6mg was too weak. We had to go out and get him some 12mg so he could get the fix he needed from the vape and not light up as much. Everybody is different.

It sounds like 3 is too low, it's good for the shop 'cause you'll buy a lot more juice. But 6 or even 12mg may be where you need to be if you do not want to vape constantly and pay the higher price to do so imo. Cheers.

This is not the case.
If you are using higher nic you'll get more throat hit.
If you turn the power up higher as well?
You'll likely choke yourself out and it won't be pleasant.
Starting at a crazy low power and inching it up slowly every few vapes is the best way to find the sweet spot.

It took me 40 years to get as addicted as I was. I knew I would not cut down or go to zero overnight.

After 4 years I am at 3-6mg. I'll not likely ever go to zero.
It would be like having a decaf for my mornin' coffee...
might as well just drink hot water.

Just like my morning coffee I enjoy what some nic offers me.
Calming, relaxing, helps focus etc. I will not deprive myself of that especially when it's about as harmless as my mornin' cup of java.
I've seen folks cut nic back fast then quit vaping.
They've started smoking again.
For me vaping nic is a long term solution to a long term problem I once had but.....each to their own...whatever works for you. Cheers.

You can vape what you like really. What he might (was?) trying to say is that the more powerful you vape, the lower the strength you need.

3mg @ 32 watts is an excellent choice... I approve... :thumb:

(I approve because I mostly vape 6mg at 15 watts).

I've got 5 years of Nicotine in the freezer, so I can vape on for now but will be looking to cut down over time. Most people don't consider it, as they are so happy to be free from smoking.

I see. Thanks for the tips :) Nicotine is as harmless as a cup of coffee ? My family was saying to me something along the lines of like, "vaping seems better than smoking, but we don't like that your still using nicotine which is addictive".

The coffee thing is OK, but not perfect. People are scared (really scared) of the word Nicotine as for years people considered Nicotine = Smoking. So, tar stains on the walls of a bar or club (or lungs) were called Nicotine stains. Not true, of course.
Nicotine isn't harmless (not 100% harmless) but Vaping is much, much safer than smoking.
My family were very unhappy, but now they see it's a wise choice... especially if the risks are reduced so massively.

Nicotine isn't the monster in cigarettes. Nicotine is touted by many physicians as a wonder drug. It's one of the most effective* treatments for alzheimers and parkinsons. (*I am not a doctor, nor am I paid to play one on the internet)
While indeed it is an addictive substance, its pros outweigh its cons, it's just the destructive delivery systems (like cigarettes/chewing tobacco) that damn it into a dark light.

True...I sent them a documentary on vaping, and after they said it seemed better than smoking, but I think they still consider nicotine == very bad, and they don't like the ''addiction'' factor.

It seems like vaping is still a bit taboo because it is something new...

The addiction to Nicotine is minimal after a while and/especially if you drop levels (once you've got rid of all the other substances that addict you to smoking). There are some that say there is virtually none in the event of a non-smoker taking up Vaping (with Nicotine).
If I go without Vaping, I don't feel much withdrawal of any sort really. I just miss the routine and the puffing.

Well this is my day 3, and so far in total over 3 days I've only had 3 cigarettes, normally that would be 30 by now. Also, the other day I tried to have one in the evening, and it didn't go very well, I ended up throwing it away after 1/4 of the smoke, and went back in. Vaping seems so much smoother...

Also, I'm a little paranoid about batteries exploding or something. I should probably get some reliable batteries and an external charger. I just have this green one the shop gave me, and I charge it with the usb port.
