So I haven't had a traditional cigarette in 4 months. I was knee deep in vaping happiness until this past week. It started out just kind of itchy and now I can't have a single vape without my throat burning. I tried different juice delivery (carto, vivi nova, kanger evod/protank) and different pg/vg ratios (have tried 100% vg but not 100% pg). I am stumped, I thought maybe I was just sick or something but I don't have any other symptoms except when I vape my throat just burns and I get a really heavy feeling in my chest for 10-15 min.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It's driving me crazy, I actually went and bought some dip (which is bleh) in an attempt to curb nicotine cravings. Anything you guys could suggest would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you may have a throat infection... Or you are vaping something wrong, or vaping incorrectly.
Hard to tell for sure.
1- does gargling with mouthwash help at all?
2- what flavor liquid are you vaping?
3- what nic strength do you vape?
3- do you direct inhale to your lungs?
4- do you draw the vapor into your mouth first, then inhale to your lungs?
5- what settings are you using if you have a variable device?

Where are you getting your juice? There are a lot of questionable sources out there and you don't really know what you're getting. If I order nicotine, flavoring, PG, and VG from China and mix it here, I can legally say that it's made in the USA, so be weary of a vendor that doesn't offer any more info than "Made in the USA". Most of my friends that had side effects similar to what you are describing had purchased liquid made from all Chinese ingredients. The Chinese don't really care what goes in the nicotine that they sell to Americans, but American made nicotine is much more expensive so most vendors don't use it. I work at a vape shop and we constantly get emails from Chinese vendors trying to sell us their liquid, we can purchase liquid from them for the same price that we pay for an empty bottle to put our liquid in.

Im guessing since you did the PG/VG thing (PG gives the throat hit) ....In My Opinion.....Its a nic level that is to high. Just a guess, but the EXACT thing happened to me. Was using 24mg nic as a new vaper for 4 months or so..throat got worse and worse.. burning. I lowered my level to 18 nic ad it went away 75 percent. The went to 14 and 12 nic and it is gone. I do 50/50 now, but when I was having problems, I did just as you did and switched around.

This is partially what got me into DIY. Now, I know for sure whats in it and what levels of all ingredients.

Unless you suddenly increased Nic drastically or raised your power output to high it sounds like a viral infection.
See a doctor for the issue in any case. the throat is nothing to mess around with.
After collapsing at work Jan.2012, I ended up having 2 throat surgeries to correct Acid reflux damage. Didn't even know I suffered from Acid reflux. Never had heart burn or anything.

If I'm sick it's def the first time I have been and had just a sore throat when vaping, it is usually accompanied by other symptoms. It only hurts when I vape, after an hour if I haven't vaped my throat feels fine, food also does not affect it. Lets just say I am sick with a sore throat, what do you guys do to get your nic fix? Someone else mentioned that it may be my nic strength but I have been using 12mg for a little over a month so I don't think it is that either.

Not asking for doctor stuff or for you guys to ponder about what I might have if I'm sick, I'll leave that up to the Dr. I was more so just seeing if anyone else had this happen and if so what they did to prevent/ counter it.

Try gargling with warm salt water, a cup of watrr with a teaspoon or so of salt. It's a miracle worker! Maybe if you can do this a few mi utes into vaping it will help with the inflammation enough to get you your nic fix. Do it again after to rinse out your throat and maybe your pain will subside more quickly.

So where do you source your nicotine bases from?

Specific company name please.

Well I went to the DR and he said he couldn't see anything wrong, did a strep test and blood work to be sure. I have just resorted to eating about 10-15 cough drops a day. It isn't as bad as it was a couple weeks ago but is still a noticable itch in the throat while/after vaping. Hopefully it's a seasonal thing and it eventually goes away.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
