Vaping in public

Another thread on this subject was moved to the public forum where I cannot comment, yet; but, I did want to address this topic.

In Canada it is legal to vape anywhere, apparently, however, I was never a smoker and don't feel comfortable vaping in public.

I think about being a bad influence on kids, and remember that my mom is sooo allergic to cigarette smoke that it would put her in the hospital, so others with the same problem might panic if they see me vape.

My mom was a prisoner of her home in the 60s and 70s because going anywhere, like bowling (she was a champ) or to the movies, or theatre, or restaurants became out of the question.

Knowing that has given me a different perspective on things.

I do vape in the supermarket...I hate shopping and my partner is a shop-a-holic...but I just hold the inhale so there is no vapour..and I am using the ego, and hold it like an asthma inhaler.

I actually thought of telling people it's an inhaler, as it does clear my lungs and sinuses, so my eyes don't weep like an old dog.

Otherwise I go out with my partner and vape while he smokes...also public washrooms and I confine my vaping at home to my bedroom so my partner/roommate doesn't feel jealous. He still hasn't turned his head around this thing and would rather take the apartment stairs and go outside to smoke in -30, than try something new...oh well!

So, how do you other newbies deal with this?

Just a tip: For stealth vaping, after you inhale, hold it a couple seconds, then breath in again before you exhale. This will help diminish the vapor even more.

Good tip^...I hold it in, but sometimes there is still vapour when I release and I turn my face into my jacket or sleeve..plus, I try to make sure I am in an aisle alone

Well, first of all a warm welcome. This forum is top notch in my books.
Vaping is such a new thing that Canada and its countrymen really don't know what to do with it. I vape wherever, however, I'm not an in your face kind of person so I vape using common sense and discretion if the situation warrants it.

Stealth vaping is best achieved by using high ratios of PG - which doesn't produce so much visible vapor - and the 'double-inhalation' technique that Kable mentioned.

I've had a few questions from curious onlookers and the HRM police stopped me on the highway the other day, thinking I was using a celphone! The fact that 3 (yes, THREE) squad cars were involved must have meant they had very little to do in the 'murder capital' of the Maritimes (pffft!).

I walk in with my big provari in my hand. I vape proudly. I make myself approachable. I'm ready to answer questions.

I don't blow it in people's faces.

So far the only responses have been positive. I've had quite a few people ask the obvious, 'does that thing really work?'

depends on the situation. I find most people get huffy and puffy until they realize its an ecig. At first they can just see vape or "smoke" and come over to see whats up. I live in a small mountain town in arizona though so there are lots of old folks here haha I use the double inhale trick to keep the vape to a minimum if its attracting negative attention, or if my girlfriend is givin me a hard time fillin up the place with vapor

I just started as well and it is the same for me. I am using them as a replacement for the real things so if I wasn't going to have a smoke sitting at my desk, I am not going to have one of these there either. I will do it in the house after the kids go to bed though...

Prescott is not a small mountain town.
But, it isn't as big as Tucson.
But yes, Those old guys really start to give damns. They have nothing better to do than just give damns and play golf....

When im at the doctors or a hospital i do it in the bathroom or outside. Thats the only place i show discretion.

I vape in public. There are however situations where I dont vape. Hospitals, work office or where people will take offence.

I vaped last weekend at my local casino... the only people who questioned me were my friends interested in what it all was. I don't think I'll ever vape in places where smoking isn't permitted... but who knows lol. I may just for fun.

Oh and a plane vape is def in order when I can make that happen!

I vape proudly with my Smoktech ZMAX. When people look at it/or me funny I explain what it is and what I'm doing. Then, they shake their heads in approval, and sometimes ask if it really works. Of course I tell them YES!! Some will ask where to get supplies and more info. Info wise, I tell'em to come here and read, join, have fun!! true story!!!

I had to go to the ER last night. I was sitting in my room stressing out a little. Really wanted a cig... I shut the door and chain vaped for a bit. Felt much better. I have vaped in WalMart..no problems..i even vape at church, but only in the lobby. So far I have had zero people say a word to me. I try new places all the time, will see how it goes.
