I bought 801's. That was a bad mistake if for no other reason than the batteries are so poor. So far we average losing a battery a week. They drop like flies and are the perfect example of how utterly crappy chinese crap can be.

Things may be better when I get my supply of AA lithium batteries for manual switch battery packs. More chinese crap but at least each one of these batteries are less than 15% of the cost and provide three times the power of the 801 joke battery.

I only hope a half dozen of the useless and expensive 801 batteries last us for another two weeks or so.

I always have a spare...any thing that replaces the loved/hated analogs needs to be backed up. (250ml's of juice)Right now i have a dse-901b(4 attys,4 battereies,200 blank carts) a Vapor King(soon to have 50 blank carts/atty's. I also pre-ordered a Prodigy from Puresmoker...then i think i am safe lol. after spending 300$ a month on cigs..i see my self as saving 10$ a day...so in 53 days...i should break even. Keep at it, and scrape up the money to keep your fight going!

Interesting how you could pre-order a Prodigy before they even started taking pre-orders....

I first bought a E9 model from e-cig.com. First impressions were merely okay because the cartridges seemed to run out rather quickly; I was going through 5 a day. They advertise that each cartridge was the equivalent of about 10 cigarettes worth of vapor. There's no way this could be possible.

I furthermore didn't like the draw of the product, so I quickly continued scouring the net for reviews and everyone seemed to think the DSE901 was the bomb product.

Well, I got the DSE 901 and while it's a cool looking apparatus, i'm disappointed with everything about it. There's no way to get 10 to 16 cigarettes worth of vapor out of a cartridge. More realistically, I think it's about 2 cigarettes worth of vapor. Furthermore, I don't want to put two drops of ejuice onto the vaporizer everytime i feel like having a smoke. I'm 24 hours into using the DSE 901, and I've already gone through 1/3 a container of juice. This is going to get ridiculously expensive.

The consistency is only intermittent in terms of vapor production. It's never certain you'll get a good hit even with a primer draw. And practically every time, I get the 9 flashing lights because the draw was too long (inclusive of the primer draw). Throat hits are almost non-existent.

If all I get to do is take 30 good hits off a cartridge before having to refill, that's fine for me. I don't want to smoke tobacco, but I also don't want to deal with a product that requires me to carry around an entire kit of gadgetry and potions everywhere I go for the convenience of getting my nicotine fix by having a smoke.

Now here I am scouring and posting to message boards. If these products performed as advertised, it's not likely all the reviewing, searching, and buy it / try it / get another one would be necessary.

It just seems like a lot. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. But it seems like a chore. It's not enjoyable. As an alternative to smoking tobacco, this has been an overwhelming disappointment.

I'm going to stick with it and hopefully get to the point where I can whittle down the nicotine addiction - taking a drag a few times a day just to satisfy the craving. Eventually I'll hope to get rid of the hand to mouth fixation. After that, I'll be done with the entire thing.

Bryangl.... it could just be the 901 you purchased. My first 901 was from SmartFixx and I realize now I also paid way too much for it. That aside, it stunk. I was getting headaches trying to get anything out of it. I then purchased an 801 penstyle and loved it, at first. It has been giving me some issues. I decided to put in an order with RyanDirect (China company) and ordered spare parts for the 901. This has been so much better. The draw is much easier, I get a lot more vapor and I think the throat hit really depends on the liquid you use.

I also found a cool tip about putting a hole in the cartridge that has worked wonders for how long my carts last (I can't post links so you will have to search for it unless someone else can find and post). Where it felt like I was getting maybe 5-10 draws on it before topping off, now it seems to go forever before I have to top it off. Maybe this was just a lucky chance, but so far this one has been much better than the original I ordered. You already have the charger, so you could easily order some extra parts and see if you have better luck.

I know you are not looking to spend a lot more money (I too have spent my share), but purchasing some spare parts is always a good idea and may correct your issues. Hope this gives you some hope.

What was that old analogy about if cars were like Microsoft, they'd crash all the time?

Seriously, though, not to hype, but i've done my research and bought an e-cig from Global Green for that reason: they're a newer maker out there. They've studied what the older versions did and their weaknesses and came out with some really good products - heftier atomizers that produce far more volume, and batteries that last for days AND come with a one year warrantee.

You can get it at buyelectroniccigaretteonline dot com. I did for the hubby and me (I rarely smoke, but he was a pack a day guy). We've had it for a few days now and are really pleased. Nephew has an older version and tipped us off as to what to look for.

I am glad you discovered ecigs and I hope you stick with it. That being said, ultimately I think you will switch after seeing the ongoing cost associated with you model. $41 for 10 carts?.........WOW I hope they are refillable......... I looked at the site, since the do not show any close ups of the products I cannot tell which model it is comparable to. But I will tell you that They have developed nothing on their own. Their atomizers are just atomizer. I also find it amusing that they advertise as "FDA compliant". Here is the link for anyone who wants to see or add to my assumptions: Global Green E-Cigarette - Safer Smoking Alternative - Electronic Cigarette

A few points:

1. your frustrations are normal and are close to my first experiences with my first PV (personal vaporizer) a DSE901.

2. PV's will never be as easy or hassle free as analogs. That's part of the trade off for a better alternative.

3. there is a learning curve with PV's. You will get better at it as you vape more and experiement.

4. the one thing you can do to reduce your frustrations more quickly is get a manual switch PV. If appearance is real important to you then try the Janty Dura-C or the 510. They get very good reviews other than the short battery life.

5. If you want the best, most hassale-free performance with long battery life (7-8 hours), then get the Screwdriver. I also believe the new US made Prodigy from puresmoker will be just as good as the SD and might even be better. You will still have to deal with topping off carts or dripping and maintaining your atomizers, but at least you will be much happier with the end result.

Alright it's day 7 and I have finally figured out how to get a throat hit on my 901 everytime only for BOTH of my batteries to malfunction. I'm so ...... right now.

I've been reading through the thread and I should have just bought the SD from the start. Now I feel like I'm out money AND I have to go buy some cigarettes. Totally .......

AND I just purchased a third atomizer, a car charger and some blank cartridges not 10 minutes before both the batteries went on the fritz. I can't believe this...and when I made my initial purchase I spent a little over a hundred getting juice (still usuable I know), a USB charger (not usuable with the SD) and I know the SD uses the 901 type atomizer, but I don't know if I can use the atomizers I have already on that one.

AND I have to spent about hundred and fifty plus to get the SD. I'm like WOW!!

Not smoke free at all...HUGE bummer.

It worked great for about a month then it started to taste horrible.

If taste is the only problem with your first atomizer you just have to clean your atomizer with warm water (not boiling) put some dry toiletpaper where you normally put your cartridges (against the bridge), let it dry for about a day and mostly it'll work just fine again.

Rule #1 with vaping, always have a complete backup PV. ALWAYS. I don't lend anything out unless I know I have a backup to that available. If you are serious about vaping, make sure to have a few complete e-cigs around in case something fails. Never rely on hardware (especially atomizers) to work when you need them to :)

Rule #2 Don't talk about fight club.
