Vaping more than I smoked?

I'm going to guess I'm not alone here, but....

I'm new to this whole thing, really new: just got my setup yesterday (and before that the sum total of my exposure was a couple of NJoy Kings, which were just not horrible enough to think that maybe this could be a way for me to get off the analogs...). But, since I got my twist, and some surprisingly tasty emergency juice (since my juice order hasn't showed up just yet), I've been vaping like a madman.

Now, I'd "quit" smoking a couple of years ago, and then fell off the wagon and was sneaking around all over the place, hiding my habit from all of my loved ones, and so was basically smoking approximately 5 to maybe a max of 10 cigarettes in a given day. But since I started vaping (and again, we're talking less than 24 hours), I've been hitting this thing nearly constantly.

I love it. And I'm vaping 24mg juice....

Is this normal? Am I just working myself up into a bigger nic addiction?

For the first month I had the vape attached to my face. If I could have figured out how to do a hands-free mode, I would have. :)

That's normal for a lot of people. You're not getting the nicotine hit all at once like you did when you smoked, it's a more gradual absorption and you're getting less overall per puff.

Over time, most of us find we either start putting the vape down, or we enjoy chain-vaping and switch to lower nicotine liquids so we can do that. I'm in the third group--high nicotine, heavy vaper--but I smoked a lot. I don't use the vape more than I smoked at this point, and it's actually a bit less. I'm also slowly cutting back the nicotine levels.

Like I said, I figured I wasn't alone in this ;-)

But thanks for the context. It helps. I went with the high nicotine just to make sure the vaping "stuck," you know? It seemed like the consensus opinion from all my trolling around ECF. It's definitely feeding the monkey. I just really didn't expect it to taste and feel so dang good. (The NJoys are nothing at all like this.)

And if this first juice (VapeNY's NY4) is any indication - and again, this was an emergency purchase at the closest B&M I could get to yesterday - I'm in for a long and winding treat of a road, here.

Higher nicotine is smart at first! I settled at 22 mg/ml, or pretty high. When I mentioned that to my doctor yesterday, she shrugged and said that sounded pretty normal to her and a reasonable place to start.

Given that some people vape 36 mg/ml to quit, I suppose she's right.

I found it kept me from returning to my 2 1/2 pack a day habit, which was the goal (all other throttles came off and I allowed myself to vape as much as I felt I needed to). Occasionally I vaped myself slightly nicotine-sick but we seem to rapidly learn where our limits are and stop before we throw up. :)

My mother and cousin both did the same thing (others may have that I've converted, but I've only heard from them via e-mail at this point). Mom rapidly started to put down the vape and we've cut her nicotine back to 8 ml/ml. At this point she could probably put it down without too many issues, but does enjoy vaping away at her computer. My cousin kept himself at 24 mg/ml but vapes very rarely at this point.

We all respond differently, so you're going to find plenty who vape less than they smoke from the get-go. And plenty that exceed it by far more than I did. As far as I'm concerned, whatever keeps you off the cigarettes, or at least reduces them severely, is a great thing.

And yep, welcome to the wonderful world of vaping liquids. Come to the dark side...we have cookie flavors. :) I found I settled on one liquid (a DIY), as did my mother. But I still take my basic DIY and modify it on the fly when I'm in the mood for something slightly different (one common mod is spearmint gum which I probably vape at half a ml per day). My cousin likes to experiment and has tons of flavors he loves.

What do you do, just get a bunch of carts and keep them loaded with different flavors? Right now I only have a couple of Kanger T2s, with a Vivi Mini Nova on the way, but constantly cleaning and refilling those three with different flavors seems like it would be a pain in the ... after not very long at all.

And as for dipping....I don't think I'm there yet (I honestly don't even understand the concept yet...and between you, me and the lamppost, I had a hard enough time digesting all the info I had to just to get this far....and I'm an information junkie.)

I carry 2 batteries and 5 tanks with me along with juice to refill if needed. I use to put a new flavor in at each filling and that did get old, now I try and pick 1 flavor per tank system and use that till the juice runs out or I am really tired of the flavor. Once I hit that point then I do a full cleaning.

I tend to use Kanger T3's (I'm one of those who doesn't seem to have a problem with them, YMMV, and I might wait until we're sure the quality control issues are solved before using them). When in the mood for spearmint, I'll either add concentrated spearmint flavoring directly to a tank and vape that (rare) or pull out an old CE3 clearto and fill that up (common). I have a 15 ml bottle of spearmint I whipped up and should last a month or so.

The spearmint is better if it can steep for a while before use, so making a small bottle at a time makes sense here.

OK, most people wouldn't consider 15 ml at a time "small" exactly, but I make my standard mix 250 ml to 370 ml at a time. :)

I never got into dripping as I'm not the sort that likes to constantly fiddle with things. If you are, you'll probably love it--but I don't recommend doing it while driving as it requires your attention and at least one and a half hands.

Overload information-wise, yeah, I hear you on that one! People mention things every day where I have no clue what they're talking about and have to go look it up. This has forced me to buy a mechanical mod and a Vamo, so keep in mind that it can be a bit dangerous to the credit cards...

I'm normally a 1-1.5 pack a days smoker.

I've been sucking down 24mg juice as fast as my PV will allow for about 3 days now.

a) Because I can, I'm not running outside in the cold to hammer down a smoke as fast as I can so I end up vaping more than I would smoke. Also, I can vape in the house, company car, etc. places I couldn't smoke.

b) It keeps the cravings away. Rather than let the cravings creep up on me and then trying to vape them away, I'm just trying to keep them away for now. I figure at some point my body will stop craving all the other chemicals and I'll start vaping less without thinking about it much.

I have no idea if I vape more than I smoked. I was a very heavy smoker. Some days were 2+pad. I started out with 18mg and am just now happy with 15mg. I planned on dropping faster but it has not happened yet. I do vape a lot. I always have my pv in my hand. Of course I always had an analog in my hand too when I was smoking. I vape anywhere from 1.5 -3ml a day depending...

I vape about like I smoked at work, as I cannot vape at my desk. I have to head into the shop to vape and constant trips to the shop would be noticed. When I am home, however, I vape like there is no tomorrow. I used to smoke outside to keep the kids out of the second hand smoke. When it was cold or raining I still, like a fool, stood out in the elements to get my fix. Now that I can vape whenever I want I take advantage. I enjoy it. On weekends I have noticed that I can go through 6 - 10 ml of 18mg juice.

I vape about like I smoked. But don't let that fool you. I smoked a pipe for 30 years and it was either in my hand or in my pocket the whole time. :)

Same here.

However it is also my understanding that due to the differences between vapor and smoke that one only gets about 60% of the nicotine where with smoke you get nearly 100%. That said I find that get slightly more nicotine by slowing down and sharing the vapor with my nose.

Same here bro. I got 30mg juice and I still don't feel it. But I feel a Marlboro menthol when I smoke it. I don't know if I just don't hold the hit in long enough or what but I don't really feel much. I take about 20-30 hits an hour.

I started with 24mg juice and had that thing in my mouth like it was a pacifier! Then I started using rebuildable attys and had to drop to 18mg and a lot less vaping or I got way too much nic. I've been doing that for a year or so. A couple months ago I got a few of the nJoy Kings to see what all the buzz was about. They are disposables with 45mg juice in them. I really liked being able to take a few hits and being satisfied for quite while. This led me to an eRoll kit with 40mg juice in it. I use it out running around or times when chances to vape are limited, it does a real nice job. I don't worry too much about nic level or number of ml's I'm going through. Your body will tell you if you aren't getting enough or too much, you'll learn soon enough what its telling you.

Too true unloaded. I dropped my nic all the way down to 6 in stages. No problems until I started getting a lot of stress. In my smoking days when I was stressed, I smoked more. Vaping more this time around, and I started getting depressed. Turns out that for some people, nicotine acts like a safe antidepressant. In tobacco, this is more than counteracted with the cancerous substances. I accidentally increased my nic going through some older juice and the depression went away. When my current stress is over, I will pop back down again.
