Hi, all! Fairly new vapor here. My husband and I had our last analogs on November 11th and have been vaping ever since. First setup each was an ego style battery with a cheap CE4, which we quickly ditched for Protank 3 minis. Those were all fine and well, but I was really interested in the Vivi Nova-S. We realized pretty quickly coming from smoking a pack a day each that a mini tank wasn't quite cutting it. So off to the local vape shop he goes and picks up two Aspires. They're great and we love them, but both of us noticed they have pretty airy draw. Nonetheless, we really enjoy them and decided to order two more online. I went to eBay. (I know, I know) However, my two new tanks came today, in original packaging, and I realized that they're different and better (tighter, smoother draw) than the ones we bought at the vape shop. I never paid attention before, but the vape shop Aspires air holes are way bigger and cut into the threading. Also, the vape shop tanks only say Aspire, where the eBay tanks show Aspire BDC. And more so, the eBay tanks have BDC Aspire coils installed, where the vape shop tanks have BVC coils installed. I've Googled this to death without any luck, so I thought I'd bring it to the pros. The silver tank is the vape shop tank and the green tank is the eBay tank. I'm not disappointed with either purchase (well, the shop tanks were more expensive) but I'd like to know what the difference is. It seems like the eBay tanks are the real deal. The other ones....I have no idea! Thanks! (Spot on the paper is juice abuse :D) 2014-12-03 14.37.35.jpg2014-12-03 14.38.09.jpg2014-12-03 14.49.20.jpg

I guess I'm questioning the authenticity of the vape store tank since there are so many differences. I can't seem to find any of the Vivi Nova-S's without the BDC stamped on them. We've also had gurgling issues with both of the vape shop tanks as well. But if it's legit we'll clean them out and vape on. On the Aspire site it shows them stamped as aspire BDC.

I'm not familiar with those Aspire tanks in particular that you are using. However the BVC coils are the new design and they provide better taste and vapor then the old BDC coils. BVC's are single coils standing straight up like a chimney, and BDC's are "X" patterned dual coils stacked on top of each other.

Now, to let you know. I'm a huge Aspire fan. I have 4 Nautilus' and 4 Nautilus Mini's and they are by far my favorite tank system. The Nautilus has a 5ml capacity and it quite large on an ego battery but gets the job done. It also has adjustable airflow on it so that you can control your draws. The Nautilus Mini, in my opinion is a better design, smaller, only 2ml capacity, but still the same airflow control knob on it. Also looks good on egos. They come with beauty rings as well.

Now something to know about Aspire Coils. They make the same types for different tanks and they are ONLY COMPATIBLE with the tank they are made for. The Nautilus BVC is the same for the Mini. So make sure you're careful in what coils you are purchasing.

If I had to put my money on it, I would expect all of these tanks for have BDC written on them, but couldn't say more really.

Sadly, as brilliant as the Nautilus coils are, the small versions do not work that well in "old" BDC tanks. (Gurgle)

The iStick is great.... but it's feisty and much better at high power than low power. In fact, it doesn't do low power..... it can't.. !!

Thanks for the replies. I guess at the end of the day, it's not a huge deal either way since we're not talking pricey equipment and they do function. Just disappointing to know that the vape store we went to (chain store) would misrepresent if it's not authentic. I would've put money on an online retailer/ebay seller pulling that over a B&M store. I think since I'll be buying BDC coils anyhow, I'll try swapping one for the BVC and see if we get better performance. My husband actually told me tonight that they put the tank together at the store by pulling each piece out of a different bin, so I guess it's altogether possible it's not quite the right coil and that's causing the gurgling. The air hole positions and size differences is odd to me since they should be the same tank. Ah, well. The two I ordered online not only perform better, but were $5 cheaper. :D

Thanks for the info on the iStick, too. I'm looking for something with a better battery life, but compact. It seems to fit the bill. We started vaping as a means to quit smoking and that worked like a charm, but we're quickly realizing it's a whole new, big world. I only wish I would've found it many, many years ago.

Thanks, Necrotic. So basically the silver tank IS an Aspire tank, but is made for BVC heads which is probably why the air holes on the bottom are larger, and the green is made for BDC heads? That clears that up. I was slowly convincing myself that one of the two, probably the silver, was not authentic since I couldn't find one like it on the Aspire site markings wise, or pretty much anywhere for that matter.

Welcome Iamoglinsgal (and Mr. Iamoglinsgal ;) )

I recently purchased some equipment at my local B&M, and was sorely disappointed that it was a clone (and I paid twice as much as I would have had I ordered online) Fortunately, it was only a kanger PT2 airflow controller, so I'm not out all that much.

I'm not surprised that many stores are selling clones. Don't know if they just don't know that it's not authentic or if they don't care.

One also has to watch out for online purchases. Got buzzed on a site - they had two renditions of a similar product, but I couldn't tell from the descriptions what was what. I (of course) went for the "less-expensive" option, and it's a clone. So, "caveat emptor"
