I have been vaping for about 4 months now. I have stayed pretty basic with a vamo and a twist with mini pro 2s, but I can definitely see how it can become a hobby for some. I have really had to resist the urge to buy too much since one of the reasons I like vaping is because it's cheaper than smoking cigs. This forum is so fun though. I had no idea there was such a huge subculture of vapers! I have enjoyed reading posts and have been trying to pick up on the lingo. Maybe this "old dog" actually can learn a few new tricks. I seem to very much be on the 'lets find really cool flavors' side of the hobby rather than the hardware, so there are some of us out there. ;)

Mostly, I think, because while I love good hardware, as an EE I just don't see that much difference among the common mods. I'll probably eventually get a really nice one, but for me it's about the experience. And that's just because there are times when I really would like either less or more power for some weird flavor I just picked up.

For example, right now I'm vaping Virgin's Dark Side of the Moon and Aroma's Djarum WTA. The former is incredibly fragile and even at 6W it's on the line. The other side is the Djarum which could use more power and I have it maxed at 11W and 1.8 ohms. Even odder, I have Virgin's In Vino Veritas on a really cheap eGo-T and it's perfectly happy. Go figure.

The advantage, to my mind, in waiting to get good hardware, is the wetware will keep for a good long while. Much of it gets better with time. So I'm buying juice to see what I like, try some different things and as long as its vapeable, it's still ultimately money I would have saved on analogs.

So far I've only had one miss, and that was a really cheap juice I got on a whim. It may mellow out to vapeable in a few months, but if not, well, it was still less than a pack of name brand analogs. On the flip side, the most expensive juice I've bought is still cheaper than analogs, even with S&H. (It's a WTA, not a regular juice. The regular version is half the price.)

No idea on gunking and I'm rather afraid to find out. I'm very new to all of this.

So far though it doesn't seem to be causing the coil fits, and its in a stock Kanger mini-Protank II. I can also sure tell the different between the WTA and the straight nicotine. The WTA hits like a ton of bricks. More like a good European coffin nail than an American brand. It's also a freaking power hog. I have my v3 maxed and it's still not where it should be.

That said, I'll probably keep a bottle of the stuff around. I always wanted to smoke cloves but avoided them because they're so destructive. From what everyone said, rebuilding coils isn't that hard to do, and it's soooo worth it.

In the vaping community and this site you will find all sorts of vapers. Some want the latest and want to push boundaries. Some are quite satisfied with what they have. A lot of the posts and posters here are from the boundary pushers. The satisfied ones tend to have figured out what they have and are quite happy with it and don't post much.

Vape the way you want and can.

There are certainly some soap operas here. Let me suggest the thread on the hana modz clones.

I am certainly not a "boundary pusher", but I'm still trying to figure out what will make me truly happy with my experience. While I love vaping, I still find myself disappointed with the frequent burnt, unpleasant taste I get (is that called a dry hit?). Anywho, in my mind, it's because the device is burning too hot and causing the problem. I then become frustrated because I'm not educated and well-versed enough to fix my problem (a lot of the language on here sounds like gibberish to me). I'm on a bit of a vaping rollercoaster...when it's good, it's really, really good; and when it's bad, it's really, really bad. Sheesh! This makes me sound like a drama queen! [emoji146]
