This may be a coincidence, but I've noticed since I started vaping (4 months) I have avoided catching colds and flu. I read where pg and vg are natural antibacterial and antiviral agents. I've spent an entire weekend with a very sick sister in a hotel room, Christmas shopped in very crowded malls, and was around my husband while he was sick with an upper respiratory bug. I've avoided getting sick during this time. Any one else experiencing the same situation? I have not had the flu shot either.

Yes, some people find this.

I think it is more likely to be related to cessation of smoking rather than positive effects of PG etc, though. It would seem logical that you'd have to live in a mist of it, for it to have any real effect. Might apply to chain vapers of course!

It's perfectly true that PG aerosol misted air prevents infections, several hospital studies have confirmed this (only 4 or 5% of the infections occurring in an untreated ward used as a 'control', for example), but you would expect that a continual air mist would be needed.

Who knows, though, anything is possible with an unresearched product like the electronic cigarette.

But - thinking about this further - I seem to remember that about twenty years ago there was a report that sucking zinc tablets reduced the incidence of colds as it coated the throat and killed the virus (simply swallowing the tablet didn't work). I have no idea if this was proven or not, but if so, then it follows that PG/VG may possibly act in a similar way. Apparently it's proven to work in air, so it's not too much of a stretch.

I have found that in the two years or so I have been vaping, I do seem (subjectively) to get less colds and those that I do get are less inclined to affect the chest. Previously, when I had a cold, I would frequently get accompanying chest infections which would stay long after the typical cold symptoms cleared, and needed antibiotic treatment. That just hasn't happened in the last two years.

As Roly says I would probably put this down to not smoking rather than the effects of PG, but who knows!

I normally get colds around this time of year and I have yet to get one. All the guys at work in the room I work in got flu shots this year. They have all been sick this season. I refuse too since they made me get them in the army. I have yet to get a cold myself and my wife has been sick almost 2 times in the last 2 months.... she can not seem to pick the pv's yet.
I have contributed it to using the pv, I was not sure about what could have caused it other than I quit smoking.

I used to get a couple of colds a year that would turn into bronchitis and sometimes pneumonia. Since I have been vaping I have gotten sick once and it was over with in a week instead of the use to be month or more. People that don't smoke get sick too so I don't think you can contribute the not getting sick to just quitting smoking. In fact, I still smoke, just alot less than I used to and I caught my one cold from family members who don't smoke.
