Will most cartridges be universal?. Im new at this.

No, most cart are specific to the model type. 901 carts will fit all 901's. 801 carts with 801's etc....

There are some exceptions, but generally you will have to stick with model specific carts..

Each model has a differnt type cartridge. Even cartridges may be lightly different within a specific category like penstyle. There are a few different manufacturers of penstyle devices. Even though the parts may be interchangeable, the carts may differ in length by a very small amount.
