Vaping residue?

I vape away happily in front of my little TV most evenings, getting through up to 5ml of liquid during the course of watching Star Trek TNG, NCIS and CSI etc. I noticed that at the end of a night my TV screen is slightly damp with what appears to be condensed juice in a uniform, very thin layer. The PG/VG content makes for a good cleaning fluid when carefully wiped off with a lint free rag. I've been vaping for years and haven't noticed any effect on soft furnishings or curtains but I guess all that PG/VG mist that we exhale must go somewhere. I mean, if you vape 5mls of juice in the same closed room every day and, being very conservative, say only 2ml per day is exhaled, with the rest being removed from the lungs in mucous and ingested, then that means you are putting 730mls of juice into your air each year. Don't get me wrong.. I am a committed vaper and argue strongly if anyone knocks us. But when the heavier than air vapor clouds sink to the carpet then does the PG/VG Stay there? More just interested in what people think than anything. I guess that the exhaled liquid just disperses harmlessly unless you put litres into into the air all at once. Anyone know if there are any studies on this subject?

I don't know about studies but just like that icky brown film on stuff dicoloring your paint on walls, scum on windows from smoking, there's going to be some residue from vaping of course. It's just saliva and glycerin I just use my normal household cleaning products (we steam clean once a year for the carpet and upholstry and wash curtains about every six months or so and there's two of us vaping here) to get it or anything that's on there off.*shrugs*

it's better than ciggie residue

Totally better than cigarette residue. You are right :)

The house I live in previously housed a heavy smoker. It took weeks to get rid of the tar and stench. I've only ever been a very light tobacco smoker so never really needed to vape as a smoking cessation measure but I vape a lot as it doesn't seem to harm my lung function and it is really pleasant.

Now, I don't drink alcohol, use caffeine, overeat or use legal or illegal drugs. For me, vaping is part of my cure for dealing with a generally addictive nature. I think I've redirected my cravings toward my atomizer and I find that very satisfying. I can honestly say that vaping has helped me save myself from dangerous addictive behaviours, lose a lot of weight and regain a lot of self-respect.

The lovely equipment, the tasty juices, the chemistry, the electronics, the differing opinions, the fun of building coils or box mods.. Looking after my vape can be a great fun hobby with the end result of a satisfying and relaxing form of personal , portable aromatherapy (as another member here calls it!)

One more little thing I thought of on this early Xmas morning.. What happens if you keep on vaping near to a computer? Won't the PG/Glycerin end up getting sucked into my laptop processor fan, coating the motherboard with non-evaporating glycols? Seems to be no harm so far. I remember fixing a friends PC a few years ago. He was such a heavy smoker that some of his motherboard copper tracks were eroded away by whatever crap is in tarry old tobacco. At least that won't happen with ecigs! Or will it? Nicotine is acidic..

I suppose if you're in an enclosed room with little air circulation, I'd worry about your laptop and other electronics over an extended period of time. (Like taking them into the bathroom while soaking in the tub perhaps?) Or, if you are actually blowing the exhale right into the fan itself of your laptop. (Not sure why you would do that though?) As for your house, I often wondered if it stuck on my furniture and curtains and such. But, I have dogs and wash things often enough not to worry about it really. (I don't have carpet, hard wood floors, they get washed as well).

I noticed the windshield in the truck has gotten some "film" on it. Definitely from the vaping. A little windex takes care of it but, not sure about the lungs and everything else. I don't vape in the house a whole lot, nor do I vape in many other places other than outside.
I'm certainly curious about the effects on various surfaces and my lungs of course.

What bother me is car residue. It is really tough to remove. It means not just salive and Pg/VG but something worse.
However I'll live with it for as long as it keeps me from smoking.

A good detailing window cleaner (like Invisible Glass or Meguiar's NXT) and microfiber cloths always do the trick for me.

I spent a lot of time in a pickup at work. I notice this on the windows after a week or so, its a pain in the .... to get off. :(

I noticed a slight film would accumulate on my windshield after a while when I vaped pre-made juices, but these days I make my own e-liquid and haven't seen it to be an issue lately.

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say it's the ingredient quality. When I used the pre-made juices, I was mainly vaping premium stuff (Five Pawns and Halo were my favorites). Now I'm using VapersTek nicotine and PG/VG from bullcityvapor, and the flavors I use are mostly clear (Inawera is probably my favorite). Most of the pre-made stuff I used was darker in color, and now that most of my juices are clear (or close to it; I like fruit flavors a lot), I haven't had the film buildup issue.

I think I'm going to test this theory by making some darker juices and see if it makes any difference. Time to get some chocolate or something, I believe. :) If this thread is still around when I've made and vaped some darker liquid, I'll circle back and report my findings.

Along these lines, I know that making my own juice has substantially increased the length of time between coil and wick rebuilds. I vape 8-12 ml of juice a day with an RDA on a mechanical, and I've been going about a week and a half on the same wicks. They're still white at this point (using Japanese organic cotton), and there's no build-up on my coils yet.
