But they're exactly the same model bought from exactly the same supplier just a few months apart...

Really?!?! That's odd...one is possessed is my only other answer

I'm going to do some research on what could be causing this....otherwise we have to go the bad one exercised. That takes approval from the Pope and it would be a mess.....

Sorry,, bad joke...I will see what I find out and get back to you.

I have two eLeaf 20w mods and the older one allows me to vape whilst charging, but the newer one doesn't.

Does anyone know if they changed something on purpose? Is it now considered not safe to vape whilst charging?

Thanks in advance.

It isn't good for the lithium battery to be charging one minute, then discharging at high power the next, repeatedly

I don't like vaping passthrough because I don't trust it, especially with how quickly a device can heat up doing that.

Learning fast :)

Yea, Pass through on anything high power can be a gamble. USB cannot support high amperage draw so the mod is flipping back and forth.

Can't speak to the difference between your two mods, Barns, but...

I have numerous devices that are (or a capable of) USB charging. Some claim to be pass-thru capabable, some don't make that claim. Should I space out and try pass-thru vaping one that isn't, I'm likely to destroy the mod. So I just don't.

In my time reading here, it seems that many of the small device failures seem to have been due to internal charger failures. Vaping while charging puts extra stress on that part of the internals. So, why push it? Charge one, vape the other.

I pass through only in if I have no other option and then only with a battery backup device. Something about vaping while plugged into a power outlet makes me think of fire and explosions and my face being fried to a crisp... If you have two, why would you need pass through ?

Because the older one of the two has lost its threads, as I believe is common with the 20W iStick models. So, when I'm charging the newer one, I have to balance the tank in the top of the older one, wiggle it about and hold it still just in the right position just to get a drag. It's annoying!

I was going to explain the whole situation in my original post but thought it was just too much extraneous information since I only wanted to know if they had purposely changed something because it was dangerous or not.

The ladder part would be the case, un balanced and reliable / safe charging is a cheap fix ....................
