I only have experience with one type of Kr808 batt. I am new to vaping and have only ever used what came with my kit, which was the Ultimate Ultimatum. I got 1 manual battery and 1 automatic, and my preference is for the manual. The batt itself seems to last quite a while 4-6 hours. Not sure if this is typical or just due to the way I vape, which seems to be pretty constantly. I'm not sure what type it is exactly, but I'm pretty sure it's not the shorty or the Extra Long. Overall, I think it is nice. I get good vapor from the cartomizers and with the flavors I have tried, all seem to have a pretty good throat hit.

Like I said, I haven't tried any other PV, but I am satisfied with what I have and don't see a reason to even need to try the other types.

Hope this help.......................

I like the autos too, they're not sensitive at all so only power when you draw. You could drop them and they don't turn on! If the 7 second cut-off is too short, vapor4life.com and vaporkings.com have batts with a longer cut-off.. 13 seconds and 10 seconds, but this may only be on the manuals... Or you can just puff before it cuts out.

I've noticed the buttons stick on the manuals a little bit, so if you're not paying attention it can fry your carto. I've had this happen on black, stainless, and white man batteries.

Also, the white batteries in manual and auto have thin little brown stripes on them from most suppliers. I'm not sure if it's all white kanger batts? You usually can't see this in the pictures. I believe it's for gripping, and it doesn't look too bad with the plain white cartos (no stripes) or brown cartos from mist-stix.com. All the suppliers I mentioned have awesome customer service and fast shipping, I recommend them.

For more help, check for KR808D-1 under the model specific sub-forum. KR8'ers post alot of helpful info there like how to refill and reuse cartos, even how to wash them out! Really helps to save money. Here's the link to the sub-forum: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/kr808d-1/

I have a 510 and a KR808D-1. I think if you are used to the 510 manual, you will prefer the manual since you are used to pushing a button. I have had several different manufacturers' auto batts and I find the auto switches to be inconsistent and frustrating. That is just my experience. I also have standard and XL batts. I really like the XL but they are long and take some getting used to. Again, since you are used to the 510 you may be happier with standard length. That is closer to the length of the 510. No matter which size you get, you will be thrilled with how long the last compared to a 510.

I bought the KR8 from vapor kings and it was the 280mAh with an 8 second cutoff. The 8 seconds was actually never more than 5 seconds which truly cuts into my vaping method. And for having the 280mAh rating, it has gotten no more than 2 hours each time I've tested it (or used it). My 510 megas (also 280mAh) gets 3-4 hours consistently.

I also don't like the button on the KR8 - it is low and while it hasn't stuck like some retrofits, it is sometimes hard to find it is so low.

I think you'd be better off getting a 510 mega (no cutoff on 510s) with a 901/cartos adapter or go for the KR8 w/380mAh with the 13 second cutoff, although I've never tried that one but even if the cutoff turns out to be 10 seconds it would be better than the one I have.

And for me the cartomizers only produce good vapor if on the 510 mega or even better on a mod using the 510 to cartos adapter. That's the only way I'll be using cartos and in fact just ordered a bunch more last night.

I'll be selling my KR8 batt.

You need to try out one of their new batterys..... i'll admit the old ones are trash and the cutoff is too short, but they are a million times better now.

I like the XL manual batteries with the 13-second cutoff from Vapor4Life. They last me 8-9 hours of normal use (i.e. not chain-vaping). The autos are nice, but can get mucked up if juice runs down from an overfilled carto, and can also sensitive to wind, loud sounds and magnets in close proximity. So far I've only had one manual that's had a button that is a little flaky.

Nightwalker,

When you say 'new ones' are you just talking about the XL 360mAh? Or are there other new ones. I didn't know that the one I got was an 'old' one. I just got it a while back not like months ago.

I also have to throw in my vote for the V4L extra long with the 13 second cut off, but for me manual or auto both work great. You do have to be careful with wind and magnets with the auto but I don't believe they are sound sensitive. And the manual battery is sealed so will not be damaged if you overfill and leak juice.

I just love the long battery life on the extra long, it's about the size of a bic pen with the cartomizer on.

OK, the KR808D-1 seems to have several battery sizes and auto and manual.
I have a 510 I am using now with manual battery.
Those of you who are using the KR808D-1, V4L, KR8...etc. which battery did you prefer? I am looking to purchase one but am not used to so many options.
Suggestions?

Hi Mac,

I love my KR808D-1 XL automatic batteries. I didn't know about the manual option when I bought mine). I'm told the XLs last nearly twice as long as the regular size "808" battery, but just opted for 3 of the XLs because the battery life. I'm not sure of the difference, but with at the same price and just a little longer, I figured any extra battery life is a good thing.

These batteries last all day, you can get refillable cartromizers, which are easy to refill by putting some eLiquid in the cap (about 1/2 way up) then gently and slowly press the cartomizer into the cap, battery-end down. Wipe off the e-liquid out of the threads, helps to put the caps on and give it a shake, screw it back on the battery, and you are good to go! (I think giving it a sit for about 10-15 minutes is also helpful to give the eLiquid time to get into the cartridge fluff. You can refill a bunch at once if you want to get the same flavor, or even mix very small amounts of flavors to test them in the caps (the silicone caps at each end of the carto). Just use a cap without the silicone "pin" - about 1ml will refill the cartos that vapor VERY well, the battery/carto set up is only 2 pieces and the easiest I've used so far.

These batteries are about the same size as an analog 100 (I think 98 - I haven't measured though) with the carto on, so easy to handle AND there are pocket/purse-sized case chargers that you can plug into your USB port, charge the case battery, then bring it with you anywhere. There seems to be more charging options for the 808's as well. You can use a small USB charger, A/C with car cig lighter adapter, a car lighter to USB to battery set up (2pc) charger, the USB charged cases that protect your battery as well as allow you to carry/charge a battery & 2 catros with you in a small, pocket-sized hard case.

There are also compatible USB pass-throughs if you want to vape while on your laptop or at your computer desk that use the same cartos (I'm going to get a pass-through soon).

Also, there seems to be more pre-loaded flavors available for the cartos.

I shopped around quite a bit and tried them out before I chose this set-up.

I have 3 batteries - 1 for home, 1 for my case to go anywhere and 1 for home.

I think these are the most versatile. :2cool:

If you want to use a 501 "drip" (or other cartridges/cartos) you can get an adapter for that too!

I've been very happy with mine thus far and those I know that have started with other batteries have bought at least one or more of these because of the portability/versatility and battery life.

I hear the chrome-looking ones get VERY hot (get cartos that are colored, or covered with whatever they are wrapped in).

The one drawback I've seen is that there are some defective battery units, but then I've seen or heard of that with ALL the batteries I have seen on the market. Whatever you buy, be sure to get it from a reputable dealer with a good return policy!

I think those who have used it and not liked them may not realize that when vaping them, you need to heat up the cartridge by taking several short hits off the carto. Also, I found that if you just barely seat the carto on the battery, you'll get far better performance than if you screw the carto on tightly.. just lightly finger tight is all you need & it will preform better this way. Also, be sure you let the batteries charge overnight when you first get them, even after the light on your charger turns green.

I'm not sure if the chargers I have are "smart chargers" which would shut off after the battery is charged... I don't think so. I'll charge all 3 of my batteries overnight, especially if I'm going somewhere. Then I can recharge with my case or car charger if I need to go somewhere.

It's a tad overkill, but also great to have a couple extra charged batteries share with friends & family! ;)

As for the cartos, I shake mine just before starting them. I took a hit off a Premuim Classic Caramel-Mocha-Frapp 18, and my first vape tasted like extremely strong espresso - not what I was expecting! I remembered that you're supposed to shake them, so I shook it a bit, then got the awesome flavor I was hoping for, and have with my others too.

The companies I've bought from also tend to throw in extra sample cartos, and you can request which ones in the "comments" section of the order, or just ask at the shop if you can try such-in-such flavors and they'll give them to you to try. Our local mall store has sleeves that are disposable to try different flavors, then they'll give you a few to try - knowing you'll love them and buy some anyhow!

If you're not getting, or stop getting a good vapor hit off of it, the battery is likely getting low. I should flash when taking a vape off it when it is low, but I've noticed that sometimes it may not vape well just before this. You might wonder what's wrong... Time to swap batteries, put that one on a charger and grab another battery.

A lot of choices out there, but I'm very happy with my 808 XLs so far. I thought I'd walk you through what I considered before I chose so you'll have an idea of things to consider before buying.

Just my $0.02! :2c:

Get seven V4L batteries:

1 shorty manual
1 shorty automatic
2 standard manuals
1 standard automatic
1 XL manual
1 XL automatic

You'll be in battery heaven.

To save a little bit of money, you could drop the two shorties and just get the other five.

Make sure you get either blank "Premium CoolCarts" at vapor4life, or blank "turbo" cartomizers at vapornine. Don't ever buy the older style 808 cartos.

BTW, XLs don't fit in the PCC -- regulars and shorties do.

I have use and do have some v4l bats. They are handy once in a while but I much prefer my Ego Bats.

V4l is a good vender, the only problem is you never know what you are buying now.
they change designs and juice very frequently and so when purchasing you really dont know if you are getting the old design , or the new one , or the new new one etc.

Which has led to me no longer ordering from them.

some of their bats have a 13 sec cut off and some dont, some have a more airy draw and some dont, some of the cartos dont seem to fit some of their batteries, and some do,
Problem is , you dont know which is which when ordering.

The equipment they sell is good, no doubt about that, if you can figure out which is which and what it will work with without modding it when you get it new.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Wanted to reply earlier this morning but had a keyboard issue.
Will the XL batts fit in the PCC?

No. I haven't found any vendor with a PCC for the XL batts. They're still my favorites when I use cartomizers, though. And the length is actually rather cool, although it took a day for the look to 'grow on me'. Get the XL auto, forget the rest unless you're drippin. Then get an eGo.
