I see this unit as a fail :( Proprietary atomizer, 10440 battery with 350mah capacity and sub par performance. looks nice though.

Thank you for the review ! look forward to the next one :)

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :) For whom I think it's aimed at -- newbies -- it's probably an okay introduction to vaping. Not great by any means, but probably enough that first-timers probably won't think anything much is wrong. It wicks well so that's good, has better battery life than a 510-T, looks great, and is easy to maintain. It's only really when they try something better that they're going to realize what they were missing with the eCab. It's not a terrible device -- I've tried worse -- but it's definitely not for anyone who's started to move on to better and more powerful devices, much less those of us who have been around the block a few times already. Performance is lacklustre but probably acceptable for a newbie. The real shame I think is the proprietary connector, because you can't use anything but eGo-C Type A heads on them, so as a newbie, if you want to dip your toes into trying inexpensive new things like cartos or clearos, you're out of luck. You have to buy into a whole new system. That's where I think this really fails.

I don't consider myself a newb (at least a fresh one), but still find it useful, on it's own merits. I like smallish devices, but the 10440s are better than typical KR8 or 510 setups. Those run from 2 to 3 hours.. You get maybe 3 1/2 here. The changable battery may or may not be more convenient. I don't think either method as negative or positive. The tank is arguably better than the 510/ego T tanks. And better than the cartomizers that come with KR8s.

I think just about all delivery systems are pretty much broken in one way or another, but the ego-C/ecab isn't that bad. You don't have to top it off like cartos, and you don't get the leakage as older tank systems. It lacks flavor compared to a clearo, but the only clearos in this size (like CE3s) require something awkward (and a little embarassing) like a bottom syringe fill method. It isn't practical enough. All you have to do is carry a bottle and squeeze here.

Performance I've found is iffy.. it depends on the juice. Some juices are really pissing me off enough to consider just moving on to another device. Some wick great. This is a problem with ego-C attys in general, I think. They can be too tightly wound.

I can agree with that for the most part. I do like its form factor, and I do think this tank system does work better than some others. I have the same issue with 808 cartos as well -- LRs work better than the SRs but neither of them give the same kind of flavour and throat hit of a good Boge by any stretch, and I can't figure out why. I was inclined to think that the horizontal bottom coil was the flaw, but the 510 Kanger HBCs worked fine. Just the 808s seem to be weak.

I think it lacks flavour (and TH) compared to everything but most other tanks to be honest, but part of that might also be a function of vaping 12mg -- the difference may not be so noticeable at higher nic levels, at least with throat hit anyway. Still, like I said, it works, and it works better than I had expected, but from the position of someone who is used to more, it didn't really satisfy enough for me. I do agree however that I really don't like syringe-filled systems, particularly bottom coils that need to be filled upside-down as you can't use needle bottles.

True, it can depend on the consistency of the atomizers as well as the juice. I used mainly 70/30 with mine because that seems to be the breaking point for many tank systems, but this one at least handled that ratio perfectly well, so I was happy with that.

Maybe you're right. I'll give you that. I vape between 16 and 24, but I doubt it's that different from what you experience. I think I just like the basic idea of tanks, regardless of the weaknesses. The one other tank system I need to try are those imists you reviewed. From what I can tell, it solves my complaint about wicks. To me, that's the biggest weak link. If it had faulty ones, at least they're easier and cheaper to replace on the imist.

I like the idea of tanks as well -- I particularly like the fact that you can change flavours and it only takes a few puffs for it to fully change over in the atty. Unfortunately it seems as though the fundamental design of current tank systems doesn't permit all of the goodness of the juice to get through; there are too many surfaces between the coil and your mouth for the vapor to condense on and diminish its properties. I have a pretty good idea what's needed to solve the problem, just no real way to test the idea. :)

I know I'm late to this party. NICE REVIEW Mindfield!

Wow. Interesting. I like the replaceable battery. I hope Joye continues experimenting with that concept.

You'd have to have the mAh suffer to get the smaller size, of course. That may appeal to many that want a less-bulky PV for ... style/form factor.

The flavor/atty thing...... if they just had a standard connector, maybe with a cone to keep it the same diameter...any issues could be solved so easily. What a shame they tried to lock people into some proprietary thing.

I'd rather see one of these with a standard connector and ... IDK... maybe as a stand-alone package. Then.... since I already have a charger for those batteries (and some batts too) and if I wouldn't need to buy the "special" atties... I'd be all set for say...$25.00ish for just the unit. That would almost rival the twist. Not vv, but a swappable battery that I could use a 2.0 ohm atty on.

Yep. The connector thing... spoils it IMO.

Glad you enjoyed the review!

I didn't expect long life out of a slim -- for what it is, 350mAh is more than fine, and the slight extra girth lets them keep it shorter than comparable (380mAh) 510s and 808s. You'd get similar battery life out of the far more expensive Precise P10.

But it is indeed the proprietary connector that sort of kills it with this one. You're literally stuck with this tank system and no option to use anything else if the tank doesn't do it for you. If someone ends up making an adapter for this that lets you use standard 510 devices on it, then great, that would be make it much more useful. But when just about everything is built around a 510 or 808 connection these days (with a few rare exceptions for the 801) -- and especially since the 510 is Joye's creation in the first place -- it just seemed foolish to introduce something completely different at this stage when it doesn't seem to offer any advantage. And that's a pity, because othewise it would have been a great starter for those who want slim (if not as slim as a 510) but better battery life without stepping up to an eGo.

I agree i feel the connector was a big thumbs down with the Ecab and even with it i would like to have one and even have plans to order one soon. Then after a little searching i ran across this ,,, Joyetech Joye eCab Adaptor So my slight reluctance in placing an order for a Ecab kit has been pushed closer to being a for sure decision.

You sure called it on this Fix AttyPops. btw do you have any lotto numbers you would like to share, hahaha.
Take care and have a nice day,Rob.

Hey, nice! I didn't realize Joyetech had released adapters. I'm going to have to see if the vendor that sent me the eCab plans to carry the adapters. I think that would make the unit a lot more marketable if there's a 510 adapter available for it.

Yes this is just what the ecab needed to put it right along with the other 510 connector device's. Would you please update this thread with the link of your vendor if in fact they do start carrying this adapter? I am in no hurry for an Ecab and would like to purchase the adapter at the same time as the device itself. Thanks and have a nice evening,,Rob.

Absolutely. If she does start carrying them I may do a brief update video with the adapter.

I searched every vendor (United States) listed on the joyetech website as joyetech distributors and not one had the ecab adapter listed so i contacted joyetech and ask about the adapter and they replied ,very quickly i might add,, that
"Dear Robert :
Thank you for supporting Joyetech products.
The eCab adapter is our new product, which maybe hasn’t arrived to each agency .
The following website has listed many registered shops and stores of Joyetech in some countries.
Joyetech brand offline electronic cigarette shops
you can try to purchase the eCab adapter from suitable one by your convenience.
Please notice that all of our products have Joyetech trademark or logo on it ,and see carefully when you purchase them.
If any query please feel free to let me know."

And the link took me to the list i had already searched. I replied and noted i had searched all the vendors in my country and ask if it was possable to get the adapter from them .No response yet but that was only a few min's ago. but i exspect to hear back from then soon. I might have to search vendors in other countries but unsure as to which one would be a good one as far as shipping to me.
This is the only thing holding me back from getting an ecab system. dont need it but i WANT it, lol.
Thanks again and have a great week ahead,Rob.

Well i got my second reply from joyetech, and i have to say they sure have a way with words, so to speak. almost wants me to tell them to ,,,to,,well, anyway this is what i got back.
"Dear Robert:
The eCab adapter is our new product, which maybe hasn’t arrived to each agency. You need wait for some time. I hope that you can understand us.
n addition, Joyetech only provide products wholesale and we don’t provide on- line shopping. If you are just personal consumption, you had better buy the eCab adapter from our distributors.
Best Regards

I guess i will just leave it at that and wait. Anymore contact with joyetech is only going to change my view of them and basically piss me off. lol.. Take care and thanks again,,Rob.

lol. Probably a language barrier thing, I don't think they intended their phrasing to sound that confrontational. :)

Anyway, Lae vaporgeek.com tells me she'll be getting them next month, so I guess it won't be for a while yet.

Yes i am sure it's the language barrier. Thanks for the info on Vaporgeek getting them in next month. I will be watching for it. Thanks again and have a great day,,Rob.

After searching just about every vendor in the US and Canada i have yet to find the adapter i am looking for. But in doing so i have seen there are many many adapters on the market and was wondering if any of those will make the adaptation i need. Being from Ecab threading to 510 connection. It does not need to be the smooth cone shape as in the joyetech adapter but just something to use until the joyetech adapter is in stock?
It doesnt matter if i have to connect 2 or 3 together as long as i get to the final connection of 510.lol
Thanks,Rob.

That's the problem. It's a completely proprietary connection that doesn't conform to any current standards that we're aware of -- not an RNxxxx, 510, 801, 808, 901, or any of 'em. It would be possible to MacGyver something I'm sure, it's got the standard center-positive/thread (or body)-negative design, so you could hard-wire something if you're handy with that sort of thing. I just had a look, and a 510-510 shorty adapter makes proper center contact; a little solder bead to either side to connect it to the body would give it stability and make the negative connection, then you'd be set. I just held an 801 Fusion carto with a 510 adapter against the inner sidewall of the eCab with the center making contact and it does fire, so you can definitely rig something up if you're desperate.

That is what i was afraid of. Yes i was thinking if i had a ecab in my hands i could rig up something, lol. But i can wait. I've pretty much done all i could do at this point and now it's just going to be a waiting game.
Thanks again Mindfield and have a nice evening,,Rob.
