I was enlightened to review the renewed version of Vaporesso’s bestselling GTX One: which has been upgraded in power, performance, design and comes with the new 3ml X tank T. After so many fancy, flashing, animated, buzzing pod systems that light up in all the colors of the rainbow and by now are capable to do almost anything that a smartwatch can offer you - I felt like coming home. I felt calm and reassured that we don’t need to overcomplicate and overthink something that has been proven to be functioning so well. Many of us have had the chance being part of the enormous evolvement of the vaping scene and we have seen many devices come and go, but I am so happy that there is a trend appearing now that takes us back to the well-established roots. This GTX One Pro device gave me a heartwarming sensation when I first screwed in the stainless-steel and (real) glass tank into the 510 treaded slot of this elegant and sleek mod. It remembers me of the happy days when we didn’t had to worry about what toxic chemicals are included in the e-liquids, anxiously reading labels and safety data sheets for allergising contents and the tons of plastic waste that disposables are causing to our planet. Without knowing what the GTX One Pro is capable of I am thankful to Vaporesso for opening my eyes. Thanks to this little device I will more focus on qualitative (sub-ohm) tanks, mod systems and I will familiarise myself with RDA and RTA platforms. The GTX One Pro is a true bridge in this sense between pod-mods and tank systems. Like a bridge camera between the automatic and SLR cameras – once you got the feel there is no way backwards!
Design and functionality:
I received the device in Brown leather and there are a total of 6 colors available (Black, Silver, Brown, Red, Pink, Blue). The device boosts a fast-charging high-density 3000 mAh built in battery, a max capacity of 40W, an enlarged 0.87-inch OLED display screen, a handy lock button and separate buttons for wattage adjustment. It has two power modes as we are already used to from the Axon chip: Pulse and Eco modes. Pulse mode boosts full voltage to the coil that results in powered and fully saturated draws. The Corex technology of the well-known GTX coils guarantees long lasting leak and maintenance-free usage. The coils are simply plug-and-play replaceable. To clarify: this device has no auto-draw, it is activated with a very responsive fire button.
The enlarged monochrome screen displays all your essential vaping information and thankfully horizontally with big enough numbers, with a modern outlook: current mode, wattage, puff counter and draw duration, coil resistance, lock status. There is a handy lock-button that locks the device completely to prevent any accidental firing or wattage adjustment in your pocket. Separate + and – buttons to increase/decrease your wattage in one-watt increments, the counter doesn’t do round robin though. There is just a discrete rocket animation when firing in pulse mode and in eco mode a leaf is displayed.
The device has a user-friendly minimalistic menu that you can access with 3 clicks on the fire button. You can then change between Pulse and Eco modes, activate/deactivate smart mode, lock your currently set wattage and access your last 5 day’s puff statistics and reset your puff counter. With 5 clicks you can turn off/on the device.
To summarise: the system is very well-thought and professionally built, minimalistic yet it provides logical access to all essential settings.
Battery performance:
The device has a stunning 3000 mAh built in battery that supports 2A charging and it charges within an hour. The current battery percentage and remaining time are displayed while charging along with an animation. To me one charge really outlasted 3 days+ while using the GTX One Pro as my main device driving to work, at work and commuting home.
Size and weight:
137.25 x 23.2 x 30.05 mm, 140 grams with tank included. Made of zinc alloy and PU leather/silicone.
It has a comfortable grip and the device is well balanced, it stands firmly upside. Due to its cylinder form it looks and feels as a bigger cigar, especially in the brown color.
Tank and coil:
The X Tank T is a compact and practical, 22 mm wide stainless-steel craftwork with a 3ml transparent pyrex tank. It takes the famous GTX coils: anything between 0.4 and 1.2-ohm. The GTX coils below 0.4-ohm have a wider coil-head, for that reason they are not compatible with the X Tank T. The airflow can be precisely adjusted at the upper part of the tank, making it fully leak-resistant. The tank is top fill, the filling port is accessible by unscrewing the top cover a quarter turn. During the two weeks of testing no leaks were observed apart from some small condensation in the drip tip. It comes with two 510 drip tips: a tighter one for MTL and a wider bore for RDL vaping and a spare pyrex glass has been added.
Compatibility:
The X Tank T is compatible with any 510 treaded mod (tested on my iStick Pico), however in opposite only smaller 19-22 mm tanks will fit the GTX One Pro. A 24 mm tank has already a remarkable overhang and spacing, it doesn’t look good but functions though. A small 22 mm RTA fits and functions with the GTX One Pro mod very well.
The kit comes with two GTX mesh coils: a 0.6-ohm and a 1.2-ohm. I know both coils very well and they do perform best in class: the 0.6-oh is meant for RDL and the 1.2-ohm for MTL vaping styles. But this time I was curious how the GTX One Pro performs at its max power with the 0.4-ohm coils, hence I only used that for the review and will keep using for this device. Best results I achieved at 32W with airflow 2/3 open, I used a slightly wider bore 510 drip tip and achieved an authentic Direct to Lung vape with dense clouds, satisfying lung hits and plenty of layered flavors. I tested it the first week with Vampire Vape’s 6mg Sweet Tobacco and the second week with the Pinkman Watermelon - the watermelon didn’t come to surface in my pods unless I tested it now with the X Tank T. I am blown away with this combination!
Final verdict:
The GTX One Pro is a real gem in this pod-mod flooded market. It is a professional, elegant, easy to carry, durable and original vaping system that will excessively satisfy all vaping enthusiasts.
The only con I can mention is that the leather material is not real leather and the seaming on it isn’t real neither. I had to spray the material with perfume because it had a faux smell to it. I would have loved sniffing the real leather as I frequently do with my wallet. But hey, who is still using a wallet at all?
