I am soooooooooo jealous.
but we did get (apx '65) at one HS (I had to sneak in 'cause still in JH too).

Talk about jealous!!!

Did you grow up in the Seattle/BC area?? Steppenwolf was from up that way, too, but I think they were called The Sparrow back then... until they moved to San Fransisco and tried to make everyone think they came from there... LOL!!

Back then you were either a stoner or bubble-gummer (I guess). Hated the Beatles (after the 6th grade) and loved Cream, Jeffersion Airplane, Doors so I guess I made my choice. Canada was an hour away and much nicer. Drinking age was 18, easily passed at 15 and very nice. They gave you your id back if it didn't "pass" (here they'd keep it, grrr). Heart was real big but that was later. BTO / Golden Earring. Most of the bands I liked were local and didn't go national.

Remember underground radio? Censorship was nuts back then.

OMG... I never really liked the Beatles much back then, either!! 'course, I was in the 5th grade when they hit the shores, but I got into the Stones more... guess I liked the 'bad boys'... LOL!!

I wonder if you ever saw any of this artists work? He was from the Vancouver area, did posters for a place called The Afterthought... and he also did a lot of stuff for concerts in L.A. when he lived down here for a while..

Bob Masse's 1960s Afterthought Series

He is on Facebook and has a contest every week for one of his posters (prints, not originals) but I've won 2X so I haven't checked his page for a while... ;)

This is one of the posters I won, and I gave it to a friend of mine for his Birthday... :D

I am so glad to hear someone else say they really didn't care for the Beatles... Mine were Joplin, Hendrix, Jethro Tull and Pink Floyd, Foghat to name a few

I got all excited thinking of someone else. There's a number of bands that I wanted to track down. But yea, we were up in Gastown nearly every weekend because I could get in there without hassle. We also raced in Canada. Poster's like that were the reason I went to art school. I bet you have a lot of bootlegs.

Back to politically unpopular (and censorship) I present another hero ...

chit-chat

I married someone who would ONLY listen to Beatles, Beach Boys and Jim Croce. There is something about hearing for the millionth time that destroys it for me. I think I expanded his horizon into Savoy Brown, tolerated YES, Jethro Tull, ELP, never did manage Rick Wakeman, Renissence or the start of that scene. Let's not forget Peter Gabriel and early Genisus <3 Now I gotta find those videos. Anyone else into Gong? Faust, Passport, Synergy, Camel?

All I remember was being asked "where's the beat". LOL!

Chit Chatty again

LOL

At least my hubby doesn't listen to those. He goes more to Robin Trower, SRV and that sort. Really very little music I don't like... We have cell phones, skype, internet out the wazoo but in a lot of ways, we have lost touch with people... Download songs on the internet... watch the concert live ONLINE... I still go to concerts now when I get a chance. Even the new stuff. After reading all the posts so far... I wish I had been Kitty's neighbor :) really jealous. I do think that stuff was more tolerated where she lived and probably where you lived then. I was in a WV podunk where there wasn't even one stoplight in the entire county and only one high school for the whole county. You can imagine how we were received by the locals :)
