Was typin' awhile ago and thinking about concerts and remembered probably my favorite show of all times back then...WKRP...I remember their episode to honor those hurt and killed at a concert... after that there was really no general admission seating and was all assigned seating. Then I remembered my all time favorite episode

Chit Chatty again

LOL

At least my hubby doesn't listen to those. He goes more to Robin Trower, SRV and that sort. Really very little music I don't like... We have cell phones, skype, internet out the wazoo but in a lot of ways, we have lost touch with people... Download songs on the internet... watch the concert live ONLINE... I still go to concerts now when I get a chance. Even the new stuff. After reading all the posts so far... I wish I had been Kitty's neighbor :) really jealous. I do think that stuff was more tolerated where she lived and probably where you lived then. I was in a WV podunk where there wasn't even one stoplight in the entire county and only one high school for the whole county. You can imagine how we were received by the locals :)

You never know. I saw Robin Tower without knowing who he was at the Red Barn in Eugene Or. I'm game for about anything. Dixie Dregs plays in a tiny pub here. Same thing with Kim Simmonds (Savoy Brown). I don't think they hold a 100 people. Stephen Wilson with Porcupine Tree, same thing, very small venue. Little advertising outside of the college press. IDK. One of the sad thing is there's a growing number of bands that I'm aware of that'll never come to the states. I think overhead is to much. I've daydreamed about doing a concert tour in Europe because of that. I think the last stadium concert i've seen was Chickenfoot. I seriously considered a ticket to Mexico City for Rammstein thinking that's the closest they'll get.

I married someone who would ONLY listen to Beatles, Beach Boys and Jim Croce. There is something about hearing for the millionth time that destroys it for me. I think I expanded his horizon into Savoy Brown, tolerated YES, Jethro Tull, ELP, never did manage Rick Wakeman, Renissence or the start of that scene. Let's not forget Peter Gabriel and early Genisus <3 Now I gotta find those videos. Anyone else into Gong? Faust, Passport, Synergy, Camel?

All I remember was being asked "where's the beat". LOL!

How about Pink Floyd on American Bandstand??? LMAO!!!

(I had to hunt around for this one... )

Ok, enough with the Chit-Chat... I was saving this post # for these guys!!

From a show out here in CA called "Where the Action Is" (also produced by 'Richard' Clark :D)
Circa: 1966?

The lead singer/guitar player, Roky Erickson, had a pretty rough time of things after this... suffering a mental breakdown in the late 60's and being shuffled in and out of mental hospitals, but still managed to put out some solo work along the way... (the name Syd Barrett comes to mind, although Roky's tale has a much happier ending)

Somebody made a documentary about him quite a few years back, that has the same title as this song... and with the help of a fellow Texan (Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top) has started performing again!!

The Documentary is heartbreaking to watch, but well worth it - if you can find it...

You can read more about him here: Roky Erickson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Did somebody mention 'Gong'??? :D

I got in trouble for posting this song before, only because I typed out the name of it in my comment... even though it is perfectly innocent!! (somebody else got it for using Josie and the P-cats, too - lol)

I saw them about 10 years ago, and watching a 70? year old Gilli prancing around on stage in a cat outfit was not a pretty sight!! (yes, I think she is about 80 now, and no longer performing with the band)

I also saw them at an in-store appearance at an Indie record store up in Hollywood once, and Daevid Allen actually exposed himself during one of the songs  but of course I was outside having a cigarette... LOL!! (luckily one of our friends was filming it - ha!)

And another time, a long-time friend/former band mate of Daevid's, Kevin Ayers (R.I.P.) joined them on stage!!

Nope, never heard of 'em... :2cool:
