OK about 3 days ago I lost my ability to taste any flavor vape. I have been vaping since feb 14 so I was confused and mad! I began searching and learned about vapors tougue. I did all the things suggested and still couldn't taste a thing but food. I went and got a pack of cigerettes..yeah I know but I needed a fix. Anywho the cigs taste like trash!! I went back to researching and stumbled unto this post written by Kahuna.

I'm always surprised how the misconception that the actual taste buds on your tongue are responsible for tasting your juices, unless your juice is sweet, sour, bitter, salty, or umami (savory). So mouthwashes etc do NOTHING. It's your nose, more accurately, your nasal cavity is where you sense your juices flavor. We all experience olfactory fatigue eventually. Hydration helps molecules stick to your sensor nerves better but too much or in the case of mucus producing illness like a cold can block these sensors. Some people find that their juices seem muted more during the spring or summer. An undiagnosed very mild allergy is usually the culprit. For the ones that find the same situation more during the winter months, usually the dry cold air is to blame. So don't blame your taste buds or your tongue, blame your nose! That's why smelling a strong smell like coffee grounds has worked for centuries for people who rely on their sense of taste/smell for their profession to rejuvenate from olfactory fatigue.

Being a nurse after reading this I went straight to the kitchen and poured salt and water into a bowl and put it in the microwave. I removed it, covered my head with a towel and sat and allowed the steam to go into my nose. I did this about 5 mins. I went and took a hit of my vapor and just like that!!! I could taste again. I can't explain it, I know it may sound weird but this worked for me. I'm guessing just like vape can coat your tougue it also coats your mucus membranes in your nose and the salty steam helped clear things up. I'm so happy right now! I threw those cigerettes away because after vaping there is no way I can go back to those nasty things. I hope this helps someone!! Happy Vaping!!!
