Greetings fellow vapers and hopefully Halloween enthusiasts!

I would like to have a ECF costume contest to see who is in the spirit. Two first prizes will be complete starter kits and three runners up will get a 15ml bottle of juice of their choice!

First prize #1: Scariest costume. Come up with the scariest thing you can think of and dress the part. Ghouls, Ghosts, Vampires, Lung Cancer, Exploded mod Zombie...your call. Just dress up, take a picture, and post it to this thread.

First Prize #2: Best costume. Halloween is not all about scary, it can be fun and whimsical. This category can be won by fairies, frog princes/princesses, cute baby or maternity costumes. There is always a chance that the all around best costume could also be the scariest costume.

The three runner ups can be in either category.

To mitigate cheating (I know you would never do such a thing ;) ) please hold a card that says vaportrailz or ECF in your picture.

Check out the starter kits and juice selection at www.vaportrailz.com

Thanks and good luck!

Contest will run until November 3rd to ensure everyone has a chance to get dressed in their most beastly outfit. With Halloween being on a Thursday this year, there will likely be parties on the following weekend. No need to get suited up twice. Community input will be considered so if you like a costume then like the post.

Thanks and good luck!

I hope you can see the sign. It says "VaporTrailz Halloween Costume Contest on ECF" and it has my screen name and the date on it.

I'll post better pics of me in costume but I needed one with that sign so you'd know it was, in fact, me.

Added these 2 that were taken tonight at the Horror Show. Hope y'all really like them!!!!

Texas Chainsaw is a classic! Remakes were alright but the original....I remember wetting myself.

I'm with ya on that one!! The only thing that I really enjoyed about the remake was the look of the mask. It was more "fleshy" and look as dried out and stiff as the original.

Sent from Camp Crystal Lake using a machete and a hockey mask.

While we wait for people to start posting pictures of their costumes what are your top ten favorite scary movies?

Mine are:

nightmare_on_elm_street2.jpg
10: Nightmare on Elmstreet

This movie turned the standard slasher film genera on its head by adding a super natural element. The main baddie was already dead at the start of the film but still managed to terrorize the teens of Elm Street in their dreams. Notable for being Johnny Depps first film and having an Inception like twist ending. Future installments in the series never seemed to be able to capture the spirit of this film, turning the once menacing Freddie into a wise cracking malicious prankster. Sequels varied from passable fun to pretty bad but the original remains the best of the lot.

9. Psycho

Psycho marked the birth of the modern horror film. Extreme plot twists, dark subject matter, and content so shocking for the time that people were passing out in the theaters. Fairly tame by modern standards, this film introduced audiences to horror. No one comfortably takes a shower after viewing Psycho. Hitchcock could not get studio backing to make this picture so he financed it himself. It proved to be the most successful film of his brilliant career.

8. Slither

A great blend of horror, dark comedy, and campy science fiction. Starts like the old 1950s black and white blob/space invasion movies and moves into body-snatchers/puppet masters territory as many of the town are controlled by an alien parasite. Plenty of gore, humor, occasional horror. Just a fun movie. Firefly/Serenity fans will like the appearance of Nathan Fillon as the lead protagonist.

Last House on The Left always got me.

And The Birds.

Last house on the left, both the 70s version and the remake, are a little too close reality for my tastes. Definitely meets what the film sets out to do, it was unsettling, it was shocking, it was certainly horror. Fans of Last House would likely love Hard Candy, Funny Games, the Girl Next Door and especially Eden Lake. Not my cup of tea but if you appreciated the discomfort of Last House those are must sees.

Birds in real life, in large numbers, are unsettling. The film does not quite capture this but far from a bad movie.

Only the first three Friday the 13th movies were good. Then it kinda lost its edge. But Part 7 had some good moments.

Like most slasher flicks, Elmstreet and Halloween included, they seemed to run out of material and got cheesy. Still decent popcorn flicks.

Last House On The Left was unsettling to say the least. I saw it many years ago and can still remember how horrified I was. When anyone says "It's the last house on the left" I always think of that darn movie. Too close to reality is unfortunately very true. Maybe that is why it is so truly terrifying.

Yeah its definitely one that sticks with you, cant unsee it. Every time I am in the shower I think of Psycho; who doesn't think of Jaws when swimming in the ocean? I cannot listen to banjo music without remembering what happened to poor Ned Beatty in Deliverance. Movies, particularly horror films, have a way of impacting the viewers every day lives in a way other generas can't.

I like my horror with at least a little bit of fantasy. If they are close to reality they lose some of their appeal.

7.

The Shinning is about one mans slow decent into madness while in isolation with his family. This film is frequently referenced time and again in pop culture. The twins, the elevator of blood, RedRum, the crazy nonsense "writing"... this should be seen, if for nothing else, to understand all the allusions to it in daily life. Its well worth spending some time at the Overlook Hotel with Jack and his new found friends haunting it. Stephen King himself has said he does not like the changes Kubrick made to his work. Personally I think the book is pretty average but the film is one of the best horror films made.

Usually it's the other way around. Book is good but the movie is not.

6. Dead/Alive aka Brain Dead

One of Peter Jacksons early films shows a dark and twisted humorous side to the director. This side occasionally comes out in the Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, Frighteners and others. Perfect balance between a romantic comedy and an infected zombie flick. Once the overbearing mother gets bitten by an infected rat while spying on his son and the girlfriend she feels is stealing away her boy the fun kicks into high gear. This film is designed to see where the lines of taste are and then cross them quite forcefully but always meant to be taken tongue in cheek. Memorable scenes include Zombie sex/Pregnancy/delivery, clearing a room full of infected with a lawn mower, and someone getting strangled by a seemingly self aware lower intestinal tract.
