I just got my Volt X2 1300mAh in and am quite happy but sometime in the future I want to find a good VV battery. So far I've only really looked at the iTaste VV, Ego-C Twist, and the Lava Tube.

What's out there for VV's? I really couldn't see myself paying more than 80 bucks on one and I am not really a fan of those box mods.

The EGO C Twist is a great device for its size and cost. If nothing else it makes a great travel ecig and an even better backup ecig.

As for lavatubes, they are inferior in my opinion to what an APV should be. For more details on the EGO Twist or why I think the Lavatube is not so great (even the forthcoming version 2.0) I will link my blog below. It is full of great information for beginner to expert.

My advice is this: wait for the Vario to come out and, if it lives up to the hype, it will be the greatest ecig known to man and half the cost of a Provari. Here's the link to the specs and sale page for it (for when it comes out). I will talk to Tim at VaporBeast tomorrow and ask him when they are coming out personally so I will know then...

what are the advantages of a VV?

Voltage = heat. Some juices taste better with more heat, some taste better with less. Having that versatility allows you to dial in your flavor to a sweetspot.

Amps allow you to vape higher voltages on lower resistances without melting the atomizer coil. For example, a device with high voltage and low amperage might require a 4.5ohm atomizer at 6v. One (like the Provari) with 3.5amps allows you to vape at 6v with a 3.0ohm atomizer. The Vario that's coming out is 5amps. I don't know the exact number of resistance it will allow you to vape at 6v, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be a low resistance instead of the standard resistance of the Provari. That is why if it pans out it may, in fact, end up being a Provari Killer.

I have an eGo Twist (900 mAh) and like it very much. But have ordered a kGo VV battery-passthrough as "back up" because, although "only" 650 mAh, since it doubles as a passthrough (vape while charging) AND a battery...I figure I'll be well covered. Besides, it has more voltage range and finer tuning than the Twist. KGO batteries 1100mAh I like the Twist...really I do. But the kGo VV is in the same price range and promises more versatility. I also have a LavaTube. It's okay for what it is. It's not a Provari though. But since I will never be able to afford a Provari, that's okay.

I love the X2 batteries too...and have about 8 of them in various colors and mAh sizes. Plan to get more, too! Never can have too many batteries. But I admit I'm a moody person. Especially at night. I need something that will slap my face voltage wise then, and the VV helps with that. I only vape one flavor: my DIY menthol. But still...an extra punch when needed is much appreciated. :)

Actually the KGO VV while it can go higher it has LESS fine tuning capibility as it adjusts in 0.1v increments where the Twist has an analog adjustment knob so it can be adjusted in finer increments. The markings are 0.2v increments, but you can set it anywhere between those markings.

The killer for the KGO VV for me is the length, it is even longer than the Twist. While I can barely fit a 650mah Twist with carto in my pocket, the KGO VV would be just too long. I also haven't seen any good independant reviews, so I don't know how it performs.

That's interesting, the KGO VV, but I really don't like Hoosier as a dealer, so I'll pass. Without any sign of amperage on the website there's no telling how useful it is. The voltage lock on the KGO VV though is an awesome feature though.

If you have high amps you can vape a much lower resistance on it at 6v. For example the Provari lets you vape a 3.0ohm atomizer on it at 6v, 3.5amps (of which according to ohm's law it's only using 2amps for that particular application). If the amperage is low on that KGO VV then you could require as high as a 4.5ohm atomizer, which good luck finding a quality one of those, or wrapping a coil with that kind of resistance that isn't the thickness of angel hair pasta. :) That's why the Vario is gonna be awesome if it comes out at 5amps. That means at 6v you could theoretically vape a 1.2ohm atomizer on that and it wouldn't melt the coil. The variability of such a thing is boss.

I talked to Tim from VaporBeast today and he hopes to have them in the next 3-4 weeks. Once I get one in hand I will be doing a full workover review on it.
