I am wondering what a good VV Passthrough is? I have seen the ego one but I was thinking of something that you could dial in more and went to a higher voltage. Links would be cool too
I've been waiting for that for over a year! I had one of those VV egos and it was trash. Better to just have a big batt Riva w/ diff. OHM atties or cartos.
There is the Darwin, but it's a few hundred dollars.
Well, there's a bunch of folks here that just don't want to be bothered w/ batts and chargers that's all. If they made a GOOD 5vPT, we could just put diff. OHM atties or cartos on, but they won't.
Radio Shack used to have a USB/AC adapter with selectable output voltage that would handle 2A.
You could use a straight thru passthrough, but you'd be limited in what voltages you could use.
Or, go whole hog and get a variable voltage power supply and hook up your passthrough to that bad boy.
That would be pretty much the ultimate VV. Just make sure your passthough can handle the voltage.
Or make your own passthrough with heavy gauge wires. Ain't nothing but a tube, a switch and a connector.

Keep an eye out on the classifieds for a Silver or Baby Bullet with the passthrough option. I have one for my BB and it's great. Its basically the whole battery carrier part of the BB, filled with a slug of heavy, high density plastic, and fitted with a jack to accept the kind of round plug that is typically found on an AC/DC convertor, not one of those cheezy mini-usb things. The cable is 300V 20AWG wire sheathed in 4mm dia. flexible vinyl, like a good headphone cable. The thing is built like a tank and I can't see any way in the world to break it or wear it out. I bought a 4 port AC/USB adapter that handles 2.5A, and it's worked like a dream.
Unfortunately, Altsmokes has discontinued that option because people keep stacking batts and I guess they didn't sell fast enough. They were a bit pricey. In fact, they still sell just the cable on their site. If it wasn't built so well, I'd pick up a spare cable, but I can't imagine ever needing it.
