So I'm racking my brain trying to figure how I can transfer large amounts of vegetable glycerin precisely.

Graduated Cylinder - Excellent option right? Nope, unless I wanna hold it upside down for a half hour until every drop comes out
Syringe - even with a 14g blunt tip needle drawing up 10ml is a timely process.

I want to be able to transfer VG above 100ml at ease and accurately and I'm seriously annoyed =/

Please help.

Options to rule out, I do not want to heat my vegetable glycerin up.
I also do not want to cut it

A turkey basting syringe you say?

Those don't happen to have precise markings for measurement do they :p hehe

Most of them do. They come in various sizes, the one I have at home is a 30 ml and it's marked in 5 ml increments. The needle on it is huge (big enough to jam into a turkey...) and it works really well for large juice measurements.

It's a syringe with a blunt needle with holes on the sides. They make them to inject flavorings into meat. You are in Chicago, find a Farm & Fleet near you, go to the sport section where they keep the wild game marinades and you'll find them on the shelves there. I wouldn't use it for meat later or use one that's been used for meat and then use to mix v-juice.

GO PACK!

All good suggestions. I just bought one of these and will report my findings when I receive it:

50ml Plastic Syringe Large Thumb Grip Syringe 50cc New | eBay

Last Sunday night I mixed up 3 100ml batches of different mixes that I make all the time. I was noticing the rubber stopper at the bottom of the plunger becoming a bit sticky/getting stuck as I was syringing the flavors and PG.

When it came time to add the VG to the mixes the plunger came off in my hand and the syringe w/needle attached was inside the 1 gallon jug of VG I got from Essential Depot. HA!

It seems stupid and obvious now and I had been using that same 10ml syringe for about a year. But that's hindsight...

If you are laughing at me don't worry about it. I was sort of laughing at myself at the time and I'm laughing even more now.

The good part was I didn't get lost in the mixing process because none of the mix bottles had any VG in them yet so I had time to open a new 10ml syringe, tape it up with Scotch tape, attach a needle and keep on trucking.

Then I had to figure out how to get the 10ml syringe w/needle out of the gallon jug! HA!

I made a "hook" out of a coat-hanger and kept lifting 'til the syringe floated just high enough for me to get my vice-grips through the narrow spout on the jug and got the syringe out vertically.

Anyway; I think this 50ml syringe is going to be a lot easier. If you "zoom" the photo it looks like if the tip is not wide enough you could cut it a bit wider and use no needle at all.

In my case (if this syringe works anyway) I'll be able to put approx. 37.5ml of VG in the 100ml mixes I brew up with one shot (instead of four like I was having to do with the 10ml syringe.)

I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Thanks,

Norman

OK, let me see if I got this right...

No VG heating
Needles too restrictive

How 'bout dis:
- remove da syringe needle and toss
- remove plunger
- place lil' finger under da syringe tip
- using a VG/PG/nic bottle with a plastic tapered or turret top
- squeeze da desired amount into da top of syringe
- place da syringe into/over your mixing bottle
- reinsert plunger into da top of da syringe
- remove lil' finger
- gently push plunger

May sound complicated, but it's not!

Go to a feed store and buy a 50ml graduated (by 5mls I think) syringe (think some have 100ml actually) and a 20 gauge needle (bigger if they have them of course but 20 will suck up peanut butter) for under a dollar total. They come sterile. If you're worried about the sharp tip, just file it down. I don't worry about it and haven't stuck myself so far.

Can you make the VG the first ingredient in the new container? If so, first add that amount of plain water and mark the level on the container. Dump out the water. Then use a simple funnel or whatever and just pour VG to your marked line.

I buy VG nic base and do this to measure accurately and quickly without heating.
