Howdy folks, I haven't tried this yet, but I wanted to see if anyone else has.

I just got my first tank a couple days ago (the Big Daddy), and so far I'm loving it, with one tiny exception -- wicking! There seems to be a fundamental flaw of physics going on here, and with most (if not all) other thanks I've seen. There's only one hole! For liquid to get into the carto, something needs to replace it in the tank, that thing being air. But if one hole is more or less dedicated to feeding juice to the carto, then there's no way to get air back into the tank.

Sure, priming works. Give it a couple hard sucks (TWSS), and you'll see bubbles coming out the hole into the tank. This seems like a horribly inefficient method, though.

Has anyone tried double-punched cartos? One hole in the bottom for tank-to-carto juice flow, one in the top for carto-to-tank air flow? That'd make a nice complete cycle. I'd be a little concerned about leakage, though.

What about an outer vent hole on the tank itself? Something you can quickly open and close to allow air to vent into the tank.

Peace!

I punch two holes in my Boge cartos for tanks. Those are pretty forgiving and you can punch them however you like and they usually work just fine, so go ahead and try a second hole ;-) Dual coils can be finicky, though, and prone to flood or air tube collapse if over-punched

As for a "vent" in the tank . . . I wouldn't recommend it. It would probably cause a lot of leakage/flooding, I've seen this happen when the o-ring around the top of the carto gets damaged and suddenly the juice just syphons right on through the carto. I suppose you could experiment with a momentary vent like you describe, I'd be curious to hear the results, but for me I'll just stick to adjusting the size or number of punched holes if I need more wicking action

If you punch a second higher up, you'll have leaking problems, also. It's perfectly fine to punch a second hole opposite the lower hole, or even waller-out the first hole some. You must be using thick nicquid for it not to wick at all. I would catch my 75VG blowing bubbles, even without the hard primer suck. Try a slightly larger hole, and if that doesn't work, do a second hole on the opposite side. Whatever you do, don't allow airflow from outside the tank unless it passes through the carto. You'll ruin a tank and have a constant flood, possibly ruining your PV and decorating your lap/furniture/dog with nicquid. This is bad, mkay.

i had the same idea as you and gave it a try. i put a hole in the normal spot and another about 3/4 of the way up the carto, being carefull to not to make the second hole to high above the batting. it seemed to work at first and then i sat down my box mod vertically for about 5 minutes. When i came back into the room the tank was empty and my box and table were covered with 2.5ml of juice. it acted as a vent and let the juice flow right out of the tank through the carto and out onto to my mod. luckily it was only a cheapy 3.7 plastic box mod.

I've drilled fill/vent holes in all my tanks and love it! If the carto is not wicking well, just take out the screw and vape once (no more than twice) and it wicks juice up into the carto. I bought some little nylon screws at Lowes to use. I like thumb screws (like the ones on the sub tanks from momandpopvaporshop) and have found some but haven't ordered any yet. I tend to use just one carto and tank at a time and then switch to a new carto every week or two.

I bought some black nylon case thumb screws 6-32 off ebay. 25 for $4.95 shipped. They work great in my fill hole. They're a bit too long but can be sniped to length with nail clippers. I want thumb screws so I can easily take the screw in and out when I need to without having to use a screwdriver. These screws are actually computer chassis case screws!

I think the starving wick thingy was just a bad batch (or10) They seem to be OK with this load.
I use a #4 SS Philips screw for filling. If I am traveling I use a 30ml bottle with the luger lock tip and the flexible thing that comes with the CE2s. Yes I carry a small screwdriver and will use a spring loaded emergency window glass punch to pop a hole in the replacement CE2s (or who ever's carto I am using at the time) but when I am at home I just use a Dremel and fill with an ink cartridge syringe once a day.
