I sent in a form yesterday asking to be a verified member......over 24 hours later as far as I can see I am still not verified, is this normal or should I apply again?

It's not normal but when the forum is having issues, I'm unable to process verifications. A little patience and it'll be processed this evening.
If I verify with Paypal or Ebay then you already know I'm a good guy. Why do you make me post so many comments? 
you'd be surprised at the number of people that want to verify with one post. that is not even enough to get out of the "newbie jail" ...
As I post this you only have 23 posts Sir T and have been verified so someone has been kind to you........lucky boy!
