I have been vaping for the past month or so. I ordered a Kanger EVOD setup. I had been using some cotton candy ejuice I bought localy here, its brand was VapeUSA. It didnt say the vg/pg ratio but I would guess it was a 50/50 blend. I noticed a very small amount of leaking in my battery so, after that I decided to order some juices, 60vg/40pg. Making it thicker I thought It would reduce the leakage to zero. But I have been having so much problems! The leaking, is the same. Also lately I have been getting so much gurgle that it gets all over my tank, inside the mouth piece and enough on my battery.

My setup is:

EVOD Battery
EVOD Tank
60vg/40pg juice

I have been so disappointed from all this, I have tried tons of methods to fix the leaking but I have seem to have no success. Have tried adding double grommets and its still the same problem. I am pretty sure the leaking has to do with the ejuice over flooding the atty. But how can this be? Is there a fix for this? With full tank or half tank I get the same results. I feel like I invested around $60-$70 that are just going down the drain. I am scared to order a tank with the thought in mind that It will leak. I hate the gurgling and having to disconnect my tank and wipe the ejuice off and even worse when it floods in the air way of the tank.

How was your first vaping experience with your first setup like? What tank would you recommend me that will rarely ever leak? I was thinking of a ProTank but I have also heard that they do leak as well.

I have a friend that has problems with the evod. I think it has to do with her vaping style. It would gurgle and she'd end up with a mouthful of juice. I took a paper towel rolled up tightly stuck it down the mouthpiece and cleaned things out. Worked well for a while then it was back to gurgling. I cleaned again and swapped it out with one of my iclear 16s. She vaped on that all night without a problem, and I used the evod without any more leaks. In my experience (limited as it may be), not everything works the same way for everyone. I'd recommend trying an iclear 16 and see how that works for you.

So are you switching out the atomizer in your evod?
Did you remove any of the flavor wicks from the atomizer?
Is the atomizer screwed securely into the base of the evod clearo?

The questions above are in regard to the gurgling noise

A small amount of eliquid on the battery post in the 510 connector is normal with evods, protanks, mini protanks, vivi novas, iClear 16s, ce4s, cartomizers, and everything I have ever used except my sealed RBAs and RDAs

Just get in the habit of cleaning it out whenever you remove your clearo, I use a small corner of paper towel to do this.

Ah I get gurgles on my evod + protank II mini after I rebuild the coils and dont get it quite right. a little tinkering and its more or less fixed.

the coil's wire pokes out from the bottom of the head, you can see it if you look really close, if its really not pointing straight out or even bent upwards a little I think it lets joose out.

but, when done right, a re-coiled mini protank II is not bad at all, gives nice vapor and the air flow is nice - I use a very tiny bit of sterile cotton from CVS brand sterile cotton balls..about two rice grains worth. i then roll that in my fingers until its nearly as thin as a pin, and thread it thru the head coil, and snip it off at each end..its maybe 1/4 inch or less poking out from the ends of the coil on each side. then I prime it with some juice and load a tank up.

also important is to NOT screw that head down as hard as you can..hand tight and a *tiny* bit to secure it is all you need; those heads have a gasket below them and too tight means it might leak.

in my blog is a video about rebuilding a coil, if you are curious about it take a look...its a few steps and you need some simple tools (and a means to test the coil! thats vital) but in the end its a MUCH superior vape compared to a stock Kanger coil. They can be inconsistent at best, one will perform nicely, one will be kinda crappy.

Yup It sounds exactly like my problem! I have seen the iclear's and I only think, how good of a vape are they? Being a top coil clearomizer, how low can you get the juice till you get dry hits?

Have you been using the same head for the whole month, no cleaning or dry burn? If so, go get another head, or at least clean and dry burn the one you have.

I have dry burned and cleaned used heads, and I have used new ones. Same problems still.

Bottom coils like the evod and protank are actually built upon a slow leak; that is how they wick. You can try adding a tiny bit of cotton or silica to the coil (so called flavor wick) but that will tighten the draw considerably.

I have tried both with and without the flavor wicks. Also have added extra flavor wicks and still the same problem.

I can't even see any liquid in the photo. If it's the equivalent of a small drop that's in the realm of normal.

It shouldn't be gurgling. Is this a real Kanger EVOD or a clone? Some of the clone coils are known to be terrible. Have you tried a new coil yet?

How hard are you drawing? Too hard a draw on Kanger BCC stuff can cause all sorts of problems.

Could be a crack in the center post perhaps? I can't remember if it's a plastic post or not. My best advice would be to look into a rba setup. The learning curve is steeper but worth it in the end. Evods kinda let me down as well.

Yep...gotta draw SLOW and steady....like drinking a milkshake through a straw..

Its not a cig and you cant do fast pulls on it. Its a learning curve. SLOW AND STEADY.....

Yes, it's normal to have some juice on the battery, but ... it's not normal to be getting it in your mouth.
First thing I would do is change out the head...it has a problem with air flow, and absorbing to much.

I have 8 mods with different flavors I rotate all day .. 4 at one one of the house, and 4 at the other.
Half are regular ProTanks, and the other 4 are Mini Protanks.
I have never had one leak, and I have used them as long as they have been on the market.

I have had problems with other tanks, and I'm glad I switched them out.
I also don't have to worry about what juice I put in them... no cracking
If you try them, and they seem too airy for you, just tape over one of the air holes and you get a harder draw.

Hang in there, try some new heads, and then change tank systems if it doesn't straighten it's self out.
It may also just be a bad tank.
I use 70Pg/30Vg and no leaks. It doesn't matter what % you use.
The problem is either the head or the tank.
I would try a new head first, and if it still has a problem .. dump the tank

Good luck and finding fixes is how we all learn... your not alone ... been there, done that :thumb:

Its less than one drop, wouldnt that affect my battery and damage it? And I do soft 5-7 second pulls and when I release the button I take an extra pull to clear it out.

How could it be the tank? I just see it as a tank and thats about it nothing technical here... and I did think of getting a mini protank but what held me back was, they both use the same atty. How does this make a different vaping effect?

I use Evods (clones) almost exclusively and they almost never leak or gurgle (the one iclear16 I have leaked worse than the basic ce4s I started with). It's really easy to get some liquid in the airtube when filling though, and even a little can make it gurgle and leak. I clean the airtube with a cotton swab when I fill the clearo as it's possible that some drops get into it when I screw off the bottom. Of course, i might just be lucky with my Evods.

No it won't hurt the battery. As counter-intuitive as that may sound these liquids in the connector area actually reduces conductivity. Keeping your connectors clean is a must to get a good vape and a good charge as well.

The reason I'm asking about clones is I ordered some EVOD clones. I knew they weren't real to begin with - it was a "what the hell" experiment. The coils are very different in bad ways. the "V" slot that the coil fits into is much larger than on a Kanger coil. It actually had four pieces of top wick in there to fill the extra open space. The coil itself looks like it was wound by a drunk 6 year old. A "not good" vaping experience, to say the least.

Hello bloodkaiser,

that extra pull might not be helping you much IMO. that's what people normally refer to as primer puffs, basically it helps in situations when you get dry burns, or poor wicking. if gurgling, I would avoid doing primer puffs.

another thing that seems to help me when I get gurgling in my tanks is to keep drawing for an extra second after I release the fire button. I also pay attention to sounds and slow down my draw as soon as I hear the first sign of gurgling. give it a couple really slow draws, and it seems to fix it.

as far as battery damage goes, I used to see everyone saying "one drop or two is fine, just clean it often", and I got careless. Sometimes I would get a few drops on my battery, one time I had a BIG leak that nearly filled the entire cup, but most times it was just 'a little bit of juice'. I would clean it up and I thought it was 'normal'. A few days later one of my ego's started shorting, due to leaks that went from the battery contact into the circuit board. I haven't used it since.

I was pretty disappointed too, but in the end it was my fault, I did too many tests, with flavor wick, without it, one silicone gasket, double gasket, cotton wick, different sizes of silica, etc.. some of those leaked more than others.

but finally I am not having any problems with leaks anymore. I have 2 different builds that have been leak free for the past week. and I mean ZERO juice @ battery contacts, only thing there is some moisture from the vapor, no juice.

so if you have time and patience for it, I highly recommend building your own coils. with a few attempts you should be able to find a good build to suit your needs and they are a huge improvement over stock heads. I haven't done that many myself, but it's so easy that today I literally made a new coil in under 3 minutes time. and results were pretty damn decent too!

or if you are happy with the performance of the stock heads, I would just try to adjust the inhale technique a bit and see if that helps.

sorry about the long post, hope you get it all sorted. don't give up, a little tinkering goes a long way with evods and similar tanks.

good luck!

I super agree with you on that. Some people draw the shiza out of their atty, flood a too tight draw, and some people barely suck on an airy atty and burn it out. Have to be aware of the hardware!
