With all of the hype surrounding the subtank I figured I would check it out. I generally am vaping on a Kayfun, Rose V2 or a dripper.

So the subtank arrives yesterday, I prime the .5 ohm head really well, fill up the tank with some Cosmic fog, set my SX mini to 30 watts or so and I get an extremely harsh hit. Made me cough like mad. I dropped it down to 25W and I get the same thing. I played with all 3 airflow settings and dropped it down to 20 watts. I still get a very, very harsh hit. Not as bad at 20 watts but I find it to be a very uncomfortable vape. It's definately not a burnt or dry hit. It's reading properly @ .5 ohms. Maybe it's a bad coil. I plan to try another one this evening after work but for now, I find this tank to be un vapable.

Anyone else experience this with the Subtank?

I'm a weirdo, I use 12mg nic. Whether it be in one of my other RTA @ 1ish ohms or in a dripper @ .6 or so. Friends of mine who also vape think I'm crazy for dripping at such low resistances with 12mg nic but it's never bothered me. But you bring up a good point...Maybe that's the reason. It doesnt make much sense to me though. As I type this I am dripping some leftover 18mg CL on a .6 ohm Tugboat and it's smooth as silk to me.

r u talking about the rba, if so which one, the 25mm or 23mm.
my experience w/the sutank mini rba(22mm), i dont stuff the well /deck w/cotton/rayon, i just cut enough to touch the deck and make sure wick holes are unobstructed.
i see videos where they jam in the wick and if i do that i get burnt/dry hits.
lots of info in the subtank min thread in the clearomizer forum http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/clearomizers/644323-kangertech-subtank-mini.html

Yes, complete agreement with what vincom said! When I used the RBA from the Subtank Mini I ALWAYS get a dry/burnt/harsh hit. Not enjoyable at all!

but op, you never clarified which coil you are using. The RBA or the .5ohm replaceable one that come with your Subtank?

If the first hit you took off the replaceable coil NOT the RBA was at "30 or so Watts" you may have burnt your cotton. That .5ohm coil is only good UP TO 30W. If I were to do it over again, I would fill her up, prime her really good, wait about 5 min, prime again, then vape at about 15-20W for the first few hits, then work my way up! I noticed those coils are pretty finicky!! And the RBA is about worthless, in my very very humble opinion!

You might wanna switch coils to the 1.2ohm one and see if that works out for you any better!

But again, all this is assuming you are NOT asking about the RBA...

if you are, I would do as vincon says above, maybe that would help! If so, let us know!!

My experience with the Subtank Mini was similar...at first. However, I learned to keep my wattage low (between 14-20w when using 1.2 ohm coil, 17-27 when using .5 stock or RBA), especially at first with a new coil. Those things are very temperamental. Start low and work your way up, as others have said. If you're getting dry hits with the RBA you can use less wick or you can actually drill out your juice channels a bit on the RBA section. I've heard of others on this forum drilling juice holes into the RBA section similar to what are in the stock coils and getting pretty damn good results. The Subtank isn't like the Atlantis. You can literally set it up and start vaping in 2 minutes and it will be great. The Subtank is different, it takes some TLC and experimentation to get it right; however, once that happens, you won't be able to put it down (in my experience).
