OMG its like Christmas day!

My 40x starter kit (++) arrived today from litecigusa with...

* 401/402/403 batts (one of each)
* 2 attys
* 20 Marlboro pre-filled carts
* 10 ml Rath Lemonade juice (VG)
* 10 ml Dekang Camel (PG)
* 15 spare empty carts (i think i only ordered 5, but shawn was generous and sent some extras along... thank you!)

The 401 batt is charged and ready to go (with the 403 on deck). Now i'm waiting for the attys to "primer" after having "blown out" the primer gunk that comes from the factory and dripped some juice directly on. I filled one blank cart with Rath Lemondade, that's on one of the attys. The other has one of the pre-filled Marlboro carts on it (with some Camel for primer on the atty).

Time to go take a hit off of these things now... I'm jones'ing for a cancer stick... let's see if this hits the spot or not...

Ok, back again. I got my nic fix in! I think this may take some getting used to. Definitely not quite like toking on a marl light. I think you have to "smoke" somewhat differently to get these things to produce a satisfying hit of vapor. Can't pull so hard on it as compared to a real cig, gotta let it warm up and then draw more slowly for a longer period of time... patience is required.

Some chemically taste to the vapor? I'm hoping that's mostly the factory primer vaping off and that it will pass. I didn't get huge flavor out of things, but in addition to the attys still getting conditioned, the batts are still getting conditioned too, and I still have no clue what I'm doing.

I filled the Rath juice by dripping it into the polyfil in the cart (and one drop on the atty itself). I think need to make a trip the the drug store to get a syringe with a blunt needle to do that cart filling right.

I have to experiment with this stuff some more to know how to make it work. But to be sure... I got my nic fix... not jone'sing for a cancer stick at all after that... (another hour or so, and i'll be back for more).

If this weekend works out well, I'll be placing an order for one of the Smart PCC's real soon. Also, I really dig the leather cases i saw on HG (heaven-gifts.com:)

Cheers and happy vaping... and thank you e-cig forum members for giving me at least a little bit of a clue about this stuff!

Thanx for the friendly welcome. Something that is different about vaping is how do you knowing when you're done? With a real cig, you're done when its done (or maybe spark up a second and when thats done thats that for sure... at least for me... until the next time).

But with these things, it doesn't burn down and be done... so i worry that i may never stop :)

Oh, the perils of vaping

It's true...you can vape all day without realizing it. Your first few days (maybe weeks) you'll be experiencing new toy syndrome. Keep in mind that you'll feel like you're vaping more than your smoking because with smoking you probably wont just take a puff or two and put it out. Just remember to stay hydrated because the vapor dries you out. Welcome to the forum!

Thnx lightenup (of Doha,Qatar (of all places, how exotic))

So about "when to stop"... hmmm... haven't really come to terms with that quite yet :)

Another things that is different about these things. I can vape in my house, OMG!!! That may or may not be a feature. Inclement weather put a throttle on my nicotine intake. The ritual "trip out to the deck to smoke a ...." had a rhythm to it that ultimately limited my nicotine intake... but now... hold on... just back from a Lemonade trip without leaving my office.

Lions and tigers and bears... i wonder what my co-workers will think of me vaping non-stop at my desk come monday! Can you say USB-passthru :)

The chemically flavor sure enough has passed away. Of the flavors i have to play with right now, Marlb(PG), Kamel(PG), Lemonade(RathVG) all 16mg nicotine, my favorite is the Lemonade really. The marlb certainly is reminiscent of the brand as is the camel, but why taste a skanty weed when you can sample something reminiscent of lemoncello instead :)

A wierd thing happened, I pulled the cart off the atty and the filling was stuck to the atty, it came right out of the cart as i pulled it away! Go figure! This was with a pre-filled marlb cart that came with my 40x kit. I stuffed it back in, and refilled a bit with the Camel juice, and flicked off the (tiny) bit of the poly-fill that remained attached to the atty after pulling the bulk of it away. Whatever.

Pardon me while I have a hit off of my lemoncello stick :)

The weight difference is another significant difference (compared to t'bacco cigs). You can't hang this 401 things off your lips so easily and get a hit and then swoop it away with your hand afterwards (like while shifting gears in your car). You either gotta hold it up in hand, or bite on the thing to no hand it... which works, i just did it.

Yup, I think i'm kind of getting into this thing now.

-VaporMadness, this is a dangerious place (but hopefully not cancerous)

Yes, new toy syndrome, I call that having a frog in my pocket. Thank you for the tip about de-hydration, I wasn't aware of that.

A boy was crossing a road one day when a frog called out to him and said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a beautiful princess." He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket. The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week." The boy took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it, and returned it to his pocket. The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I'll stay with you and do ANYTHING you want." Again the boy took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket. Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess, that I'll stay with you for a week and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss me?" The boy said, "Look, I'm an engineer. I don't have time for a girlfriend, but a talking frog is cool."

Just an update on my first couple days of vaping. No analog cigarettes at all for two whole days (incredible).

The 40x is working well for me. I still have to get used to how to "smoke" it in different circumstances, it takes more focus to get a hit than an analog does. For example, with analogs, i prefer to hit them while driving (the wind takes the smoke out), but with the ecig, i hit it while stopped at a traffic light (easier to get a good hit).

I've mostly been re-filling carts instead of using new pre-filled or filling new empty carts. I really have no sense for how many times they can be refilled. Its all guess work still.

Attached is a picture of my current ecig setup along with some analog paraphernalia mixed in for size comparisons.

I've been using that mostly empty Marlboro box as a carrying case all weekend. The 403 fits in upright and the 402 fits diagonally wit the box lid closed. But I just placed an order for the 402/403 PCC and some car charging gear, so I don't expect to be carrying the Marlb's after that arrives.

Cheers, and thanks forum members for all of the great info you've provided to this newbie!

Another update... Vaping is sooooo much better than smoking... I can't believe its not butter!

I've smoked one (1) analog since receiving my m40x kit last friday. I torched that one t'bacco stick as a comparison after having been on the ecig for a few days. I did get more of *something* satisfying out of the real-cig, but I also got a lot of badness in the deal too. The stench of it was overwhelming. From smoking so much, I have a tightness in my chest, so much so that it can keep me up at night (not a good feeling). I felt that coming on again (its been mostly absent and diminishing since last friday).

Vaping is hitting the spot pretty good for me and I'm definitely getting the hang of it now (like not having the hang on to the thing while taking a hit, and not having to monitor the battery light on the front while hitting it).

I'm getting one of those PCC's and some more eliquids and charging gear soon (should arrive tomorrow i think). After that I think I'm good to go equipment wise for a while (well, except for maybe a passthru thingy, a powered multiport USB charger for my living room, and another atty or 2).

I still have to figure out which type of juice to go with (PG/VG/ratio)? And what vendor to order that stuff from? I have small samples of 6 different liquids coming tomorrow, all from the same vendor. Pairs of the same flavors in PG vs VG bases. I hope I can figure something out from the head-to-head comparison where the only difference is PG vs VG.

The RathVG juice I have leaves a darker residue on my atty whereas the DekangPG juice is cleaner. I don't know if thats VG vs PG or something else about the flavorings in the juice (i suspect the latter)?

Oh, i guess i also have to figure out re-stuffing materials and re-filling techniques. Fluval vs polyfill vs bluefoam (yada yada). So far I've just been refilling each of my polyfill cart a few times and then setting it aside and opening a fresh one.

Cheers

Hi Vapormadness,
I to am a newbie and I have been experiencing the same thing with the *something* satisfying out of the real-cig. I am pretty new to Vaping but I have been smoking for about 35 years. I have to think that what we are missing in our new found vapor is all the "other" stuff that is not in it. Our bodies are not just addicted to the nicotine. Looking at the list of chemicals in real cigarettes it could be any one of them or any combination. I hope that this is a temporary problem.

There was a real interesting thread on this topic that mentioned a study that identified an MAO inhibitor as some of that "other" stuff, and that the MAOI in some way "potentiated" (?) the nicotine, increasing its effects and addictiveness. MAOIs are a class of antidepressants that can be dependence forming all on their own too.
