I have searched around a bit and have not found an answer to my query yet (or maybe I'm just not searching right). Also, apologies in advance if this is not in the right forum (I wasn't sure exactly where to put it).

I'm getting ready to graduate up to (or should I say down to) sub ohm tanks and I'm wondering how far I can push the VG level? I see a lot of people are vaping 75-80% VG, but I'm wondering how realistic it is to go for max VG as long as I'm not chain vaping and giving it a bit of time to wick? Some of the tanks I've been interested in, such as the Freemax Starre have large juice holes.

Lately I've been finding that PG is bothering me and I've been diluting my 50/50 juices with plain VG which has helped a lot. I can probably live with 80/20 VG/PG but I'd like to go all the way, just to be on the safe side and if the gear can handle it. Anybody else vaping max VG in a sub ohm tank?

I run ~70% VG in my Subtanks, using the RBA deck. I tried 100% VG but didn't like the result. it didn't fully dry hit, but it was not nearly as smooth as my drippers, so I figured what was the point and gave up on that. I might have been able to get it to work but I felt like it was like trying mash a square peg into a round hole. If you don't want to drip it might be worth trying. You might like it better than I did or you might have better technique or maybe the factory coils work better. I ran out of factory coils and haven't repurchased any since I'd rather build on the RBA deck and save money.

Edit: the RBA deck I used with 100% VG had either the juice channels routed out or holes drilled in the deck chamber, I don't recall which now. I would certainly not try high VG on the older small juice channel RBA decks. The factory coils would (should) work better than that.

I can blow through a full tank in my KFL in 4 hours! Lol! I puff on it like I'm getting paid for it though. :thumb:

If I was chain vaping I could probably kill off the 5ml tank in less than 2 hours. 3-4 hours is with "normal" vaping, 3-4 puffs at a time, with about 15-20 minutes between.

I go through a 1/4 tank on my 20 minute drive to work, and I'm driving a 6 speed manual in rush hour traffic. If this tank was all I used all day long I would go through an easy 25-30ml per day of juice.

I'm with VNeil on this one, but I do have an older Subtank Mini and am still going through my horizontal heads. I actually use 50/50 or 60/40 (VG/PG); any higher and I start having wicking problems even when not chain vaping. The truth is that it's a lot of trial and error. Clearly plenty of people are fine with super high VG juices in their Subtanks but I am really not. All you can do is try it out. The worst that will happen is a couple of dry hits and then you'll know. Or it will work just fine for you and you'll know that, too.

Most of the newer sub ohm tanks can handle 100% VG due to their large juice ports (holes).... The Starre, Arctic, Herakles and a couple of other sub ohms are very good with high VG juices. I usually use 80% VG on my Arctic and chain vape. I have never experienced a dry hit. I have also used 100% VG and it's the same.

If your looking for a decent max vg... Velvet Cloud is a pretty decent supplier. I purchased their blue beard, black beard, and aztec melon. My friend can only vape max vg. He's alergic to pg.
Thanks for the rec, I will check that out. I don't know if I'm full-on allergic to PG myself, but it definitely bothers me. Burns my tongue and makes my throat feel sore and this is at low nic levels. The lower the PG, the less the symptoms. I know it's the PG because I tried a mouthwash in which it was an ingredient and experienced similar symptoms.
