VG/PG Taste Difference

OK, I'm still new at this, but I finished off an 18mg PG Cowboy, and re-filled the cart with some 18mg VG Cowboy liquid I have, just to see the difference.

Wow, I was not expecting how different VG would taste from the original PG. Same strength, same flavor, but the VG has an oily kind of aftertaste I am not liking too much, and the Cowboy has lost that kick at the end that I was starting to like. Is this difference common with all the VG flavors?

for me... yes, unfortunately? well, not that unfortunate since i'm perfectly happy with PG, but yeah. VG doesn't do it for me at all.

same for me...I like the pg much more...I got some vg redcow and it wasnt quite what i thought it would be...

I've noticed this as well. I put a MAXIMUM of 20% VG in to my mixes, because although it adds greatly to vapor production, it does tend to mute taste, and throat hit.

Seems that over 40%-50% VG has that effect. I'm going with a higher NIC on the VG than the PG and liking it.

Yup the VG didn't do anything for me either. In fact, even though the TH was softer immediately over time the VG seemed to make my throat raw. I definitely noticed the lack of flavour as well as the oiliness. I definitely prefer a mostly PG liquid.

I see...good thing I only bought the one 5mL bottle of VG. It's odd, I was expecting VG to be somewhat sweeter, being glycerin and all, but was not expecting that oily kind of ickiness.

I concur. VG is not even close in taste. 4 others that I have turned on to V4L also say the same thing. I'm glad I am not allergic to PG.

My two cents, if you dont NEED the VG, don't get the VG.

I like the VG fine....there is a slight different aftertaste, but nothing bad. The only thing I saw wrong with any of it is if you vape side by side PG/VG there IS a noticeable difference. When I first got the VG, I only vaped it and had not a problem with it. When I saw everyone on the boards saying it was SO different, I tried them back to back, and yes, I could definitely tell it. However, if I just get out my shorty with a VG Cappuccino cart and vape, it is great. So, I suppose what I'm beating around the mulberry bush to say is, start out with the VG first and see if the flavor is actually not quite delish!

That's probably a good idea, to start with a VG...but I have so many other things to try first

I also thought it could be that the harsher flavors, like the Cowboy, do not translate as well to VG base as say the sweeter, richer, food-like ones.

I like to put 10%-20% VG on my juices because it brings more vapor and more moisture when vaping. In other words it softens the vapor and you dont get that harshness.
