I just built one today that is my favorite so far. I have been playing with the AFC for a few days and I like 28ga 8 wraps ~1 ohm...net .5ohm. I had to really tweak the coil position and the air hole alignment to get the flavor I was looking for. It really is amazing how 1mm can make a difference.

With dual coils I always use a tight micro coil so it can be duplicated almost exactly and because I use RxW it is always the same.

FB is spot on as usual

Here are pics of my build today. You can't really see but I have also tilted the coil slightly on the tail side to be sure the wick stays in contact with the deck. I have vaped 4ml through it so far and I am really enjoying it. Because I found that the air holes are critical in the placement....well here was my process

-I aligned the bottom part of the atty on the REO so that the coils/airholes would be in the position I wanted them. (centered between air holes towards the fire button)
-I put the cap on and adjusted the AFC to where I felt it should be opened for the vape I wanted. Mouth to lung...yummy flavor
-I pulled the cap up slightly and marked the bottom deck below the o-rings with a permanent marker directly in line with the air holes. I wanted the coils exactly in line with the air holes on the cap on both sides. If AFC is wide open this is less critical I am sure.
-I installed the coils and aligned with the marks I made to reflect the position of the air holes....what a pain in the ayuss on dual post and only two hands.
-I fired coils to check for hot legs and used my 1/16 rod to slid in and out of the warm coils.
-I wicked with RxW
-I installed the cap and very slightly adjusted
-I squanked
-I marked the top cap position with the top of the REO using a small black mark so I can get it back on straight with no fiddling.
-Whew....Vapes great

I've had my grand for almost two months, and my favorite coil is the stove top for vapor and flavor. The one pictured (dual coil) was at .26 ohms. It was a hot vape, I recently went back to 8 wrap micro coils, I still get good flavor and slightly less vapor, but I don't run through batteries as fast.

Suggestion would be to use a smaller mandrel say 1.5mm and up your wraps to 5 or 6 or 7 plus those coils lookin pretty charred bro[emoji38]

My bet is that the OP is tasting the burning Kanthal. 4 wraps of almost any Kanthal will burn. Step it up to 6 wraps minimum and a thicker (lower res) wire to achieve the same resistance. 5wraps of 28 vs 7wraps of 26 yields similar resistance and heat but a very different taste due to the more spread out heat and more durable wire. Vape juice not wire.
