Avira reported finding "HTML/Crypted.Gen HTML script virus". I allowed it to clean it up.

I'd been reading ECF. I used google to do the search. I went to the GG website. There was a picture of the PV on the front page, and I clicked it. (I was hoping for a larger picture of the mod, which I didn't get.) About the same time as the 2nd page loaded (the one that loaded because I clicked on the picture) I got the virus warning.

I haven't been to any other websites in hours. So ECF, Google, or the GG website pretty much had to do it. Of those three, the one I have never been to before was the one I had just loaded when the warning popped up.

I do believe others when they say "I've gone to the site and my virus checker isn't giving any warnings". However, a website can deliver viruses on a more or less random basis, only sending it out say to 1% of the people who visit. And it can also use information gained from the web browser to decide "I'll send it to this one, but not that one". So it's not as simple as someone else visiting the site and saying "No, it's clean".

Regardless, it's not the kind of place I want to do business with, and I think others should be careful.

I will only do business with Imeo and COV, both have gone beyond an extra mile to keep me happy and satisfied.

I'm sorry your active virus scan alerted you on the Golden Greek website. I know all of my GG products are virus free from experience. I'm not paying Imeo to design my website, just make me a happy content vaper.

Have you bothered to check if your AV software is up-to-date? This is something you might want to know before making accusations.

It gets updated daily, automatically. I checked, and the last update was about 3 hours before the virus warning.

I've reported exactly what happened. You can imply "false accusation" all you want. It doesn't change the facts.

You imply Imeo is either careless or loads up his site with viruses and that is ABSURD. If you truly feel that way; I doubt anyone here wants to do business with you. There's no lock on the door....you can leave anytime you wish.

Let's see what we find on a quick google search for reviews on that product.

Avira AntiVir 2011 - TopTenREVIEWS
Summary: (This is the paid for one, which SHOULD be better than the free), good product, high case of false positives.

User reviews for Avira AntiVir Personal at SnapFiles.com - Quality Software Downloads
Summary: Good product, high case of false positives.

Avira AntiVir Personal 10 review | Expert Reviews
Summary: Good product, high case of false positives, AVG is a better product.

Looks like... there are a high number of false positives with that software. I would recommend AVG or ClamAV, both are excellent anti-virus programs. For an even better and more all around solution, Spyware Terminator (with ClamAV built in) works very well.

What you're talking about is what I do for a living. One of the things anyway. Exactly what URL did you use? I can think of so many reasons for that my fingers would get tired trying to type it out. I'd like to look into this further.

I just went to the site and clicked on the picture window that changes pictures and there was some weird behavior that you should take a look at, when you click on one of the pictures, at the bottom of the screen it shows that it is trying to connect to many different links, I have never noticed something like that and was wondering what you think about it.

By the way, to the O.P. I personally think the way you are going about this is not right, there are way too many variables to take "your anti-virus" as gospel, and I am sure that posting a thread asking a question about it or contacting Imeo would be a lot smarter way to go about something like this, instead of coming on and stating "Not a good way to do business"

Yeah I'll take a look into this. As a security expert (one of several credentials after my name on my card.) I eat this kind of stuff for lunch. And I'm always hungry. :) What you're describing sounds like a possible "redirect" but I won't know until I decompile the website and look at the code. Then I'll know what's going on.

FWIW, I work with enterprise level security software and even that has given me false positives. I never put all my eggs in one basket so to speak and I NEVER take the word of one piece of software. I have several that I use, coupled with common sense and 31 years in the business.

I'll post my findings back here.

All is well friends. We are all family here.

FWIW, I also Googled GG and it took me to the same site as the OP and reading a little clicked on the section of the different models and I received a virus warning and the site redirected to a page, same web address, but was playing a video of how to save an African kids life by donating money and the tab refused to close. Completely froze my computer up. Things happen and I don't blame GG at all but just wanted to share my experience.
